An Evening Prayer

Words & Music: Battersby/ Gabriel
If I have wounded any soul today,
If I have caused one foot to go astray,
If I have walked in my own willful way,
Dear Lord............ Forgive.
Forgive a sin I have confessed to thee,
Forgive the secret sins I do not see.
Oh guide, watch o'er me, and my keeper be,
Dear Lord, Amen.
Recorded: 1971/05/18, first released on He Touched Me

Nice little album filler. However, the only thing that stands out for me is the fact that it's one of a few songs where the title isn't in the song.
Nice song and nicely sung, not among my personal favorites.
I have to be in the minority on this one. I feel this is one of the weaker tracks on "He Touched Me". Elvis sounds a little strained on this one (much like he does on the "The Lord's Prayer") and I feel "Miracle Of The Rosary" is performed better and would have been a better choice for this LP than this one. Of course, they put that one on "Elvis Now" where is stuck out like a sore thumb. 2 1/2 stars and nowhere near "He Touched Me", "Reach Out To Jesus", "I John", "Bosom Of Abraham", "Lead Me, Guide Me", "I've Got Confidence" and "Seeing Is Believing". The other five songs including this one don't measure up to those seven or the two previous gospel albums.
A great performance from our boy. perfectly sung and well arranged, an offering of par excellence
Elvis gives an astonishing vocal performance; one of his most moving. Especially R&B singers today exaggerate their emotional singing; they could learn something from the King.
This is such a beautiful song and Elvis' rendition of it was brilliant. The best gospel music will definitely always be Elvis' gospel music and no one will ever be able to sing gospel songs as well as Elvis sang them.
One of my favorite gospel songs...a great performance.
