CD

An American Trilogy
Rating:
4.5 / 5
Released: 2007/12/03 by Sony BMG
Each numbered CD comes as a ‘mini-vinyl’ replica card sleeves with an outer and inner bag. The outer bag features the original U.S. picture sleeve artwork, while the inner bag replicates a generic U.K. RCA single from the time of the original U.K. release. Rather than have the standard silver finish on the ‘playing’ side of the disc, each CD rear comes with a black finish, again to replicate a miniaturised version and the look of the original vinyl release.

Simply one of Elvis' best vocal performances. I think ger should actually sit down and listen to this song, he might learn something.

At this point Elvis was nearing the top of his game then came the day after the aloha special and the slide started. But out of all of this Jerry Lee Lewis is still going how is that possible?

I'm a little bit disappointed, because they didn't put the Hampton Roads version on it.

I've bought all these singles as I did the 18 Number Ones a couple of years ago. I did it because they are good looking souvenirs, slightly quirky and (ironically for reissues) with a touch of originality (vinyl lookalike CDs, picture covers, old style sleeves) and the songs are great. My question to the custodians of Elvis's legacy (EPE/CKX/BMG etc) is, "Why are these CDs so expensive?" £4 ($8) a time plus £6 ($12) for a cardboard box to hold them. Maybe I am a mug and so are the rest of us who bought them without waiting for eBay or future discounting etc, but what about the many who have been put off by the price? Surely the custodians could make just as much filthy profit by selling lots cheaply rather than a few expensively?

I have just finished collecting this set. Yes, they charge £4 each because they know we will buy them. The biggest gripe I have is the fact that they are supposed to be the original 'a' & 'b' sides. I have noticed some of the tracks are NOT the originals but alternative versions. Still, all things considered, it's not a bad collection.
