There is no Duet with the UK version of 'Viva Elvis'.

Why the hell would there be any duets on this? I listened to the samples Amazon had up and damned if it doesn;t sound like they mostly screwed this up by putting a lot of other voices in there. The great beauty of the Beatles set "Love" was, sure they changed some arrangements and updated the sound and got very creative with the melding of many songs into one (sometimes) or just created amazing segues using parts of other Beatles songs. I don't want to jump the gun, since I have not heard the album yet, only Amazon's samples, but it sure sounds like they decided Elvis' voice (probably the greatest instrument the world has ever heard) wasn't enough--they needed to add other singers and throw in a duet. Yeah, cuz that Christmas Duets was such a popular hit CD. I love the remixing and the updating, and even when it fails it's usually a semi-noble failure--at least it is Elvis's original vocal. Other than Lisa Marie's attempt at a duet of Don't Cry Daddy, every other manufactured "duet" has been a total disaster and embarrassment (oh God, remember that horrific Celine Dion thing with If I Can Dream?! Ugh!) I was really hoping for something on the same level as the Beatles' Love CD. From the samples, I don't think we're getting something as well-executed as that.

The 'Viva Elvis' Album is OUTSTANDING and BLOWS AWAY The Beatles 'Love' album which is very MOR and uninteresting. 'Viva', on the other hand, is pure Americana, modern and full of energy. One should not attempt to compare The Beatles with Elvis as he is light years ahead of them. The 'Love' Album only reached No.4 in the U.S.A. and No.3 in the UK. I expect 'Viva Elvis' will beat that.

Well I have heard it. It is good but light years ahead of Beatles Love? I think not. These are basically remixes, yes, remixes of which most fans are against. But not remixes like ALLC which was a sleeper and caught everyone off guard. Songs all too well known ike Love Me Tender, Heartbreak Hotel. Do we need these classics remixed? Yes, like I said they are good, but what makes them lightyears ahead of the Love album which showed in my opinion a lot more creativity in the way it was presented then simply remixing songs. What works best are songs like Bossa Nova Baby, songs where the original is not carved into your brain as much. I know they had to do the hits because its a show, but I would welcome remixes like this on lesser known songs. If this tops the Beatles Love sales, I will be surprised.

I think you're right dgirl

dgirl IS right. By the way , there are 2 instrumentals on this CD! That leaves only 10 tracks of actual remixed Elvis songs. A rip-off? Yeah I think so. This is not what we need to compete with Beatles Love which I think was a much better concept.

I saw this show last week and it was great, so hope the album lives up to that.
