Saturday Chart Updates

January 15, 2005 | Music
The single "One Night" entered the Irish singles chart at #15 this week as the highest new entry. The single "Jailhouse Rock" dropped 21 places to #44 from last week's #23.

In the UK the compilation "Elvis 30#1 hits" is listed at #170 with 108000 albums sold on the UK Top 200 albums sales chart. Also, In the UK, "That's all right" is listed at #193 with 30000 singles sold 000 albums sold on the TOP 200 singles chart.

The British TV show "CD:UK" just stated that for Elvis will be at #1 with "One Night" and #7 with Jailhouse Rock. The chart on this show is not the official last word, that comes on Sunday evening but it's a clear indication that we could have 1000th #1 for Elvis and "Jailhouse Rock" is still hanging in there at #7. But we will have to wait and see what happens officially on Sunday.

Its a shame Jailhouse Rock and One Night did not get higher in the charts in Ireland. They probably did not get very high because none of the fans could get hold of the singles because the ebays got them instead. Its funny because i went into Ipswich yesterday to see if i could get them and hmv had put the cd album 30 no 1s in the number one position because they did not have any of the single of Jailhouse Rock left. Did anybody see this mornings(Saturday) CD UK TV show for their new chart to see where One Night and JhR are? This chart is usually quite close to the official chart and may give good idea on what will happen tomorrow.Ive heard O.N will be no.1 and JHR will only fall to no.5 although I reckon theres only about 6000 copies of JHR after to last weeks sales to count which I would have thought difficult to get a no.5

On the CD-UK website, One Night is Number One , so thats great news, albeit expected news.

In the UK we have a show called CD UK, presented by Kat Deeley on sat mornings. Today their chart came up with the great news that Elvis is back at No one with One Night, with a great tribute by Kat "I Love him, I love him.." It's not the official chart, but it's usually the same. Also on the TOTP (Don't mention the evening show & the fiasco) Saturday morning edition today, the presenter said "Elvis has been dethroned in the race for the 1,00th number one spot.. by .. Elvis!!" So it's looking pretty good for tomorrow's official chart. If this is the case TOTP had better sort out clearance for "One Night" by next week, & also Sony/BMG must make sure there are proper stocks of "A Fool Such As I" for people to buy (Their "Extra stock" of One Night is a joke..)

My question is: Is a fiasco the 10000 number one for Elvis? I read in a site that the sales are slow

It amazes me how One Night has had any chart position in Ireland at all. There seems to be only one retailer - HMV selling the elvis singles and when I tried to buy One Night on the day of its Irish release - I was told the single never came in! I went to their main branch and a smaller store in Dublin city to buy it and none of them had it in stock. Virgin in Dublin told me its only their British stores which are stocking them. Golden Discs & Tower Records are not selling them. So how did it get to the Irish charts at all?

I watched cd uk saturday as well. It was nice to hear the presenter say she loves Elvis. Also I was watching sky news this morning and they said Jailhouse Rock sold double to the number 2 song in the charts last week. All shook up sold more but as it in a box it could not be counted in the charts. Pity because it would have been no 2 in the charts. I dont care how many they have sold Jailhouse Rock still got to no 1.

Cat Deeley is a darling and is a well known Elvis fan who always gives him positive press. The 1000th number 1 will recive big attention when announced on the Official chart and on TOTP.Lets hope that BMG and EPE cooperate to get One Night from the 68 Special on to maximise this unique opportunity to promote the dynamic Elvis shown in this clip-someones head should roll if they fail to deliver on this for sheer incompetence. Still can't believe that fans haven't realised the impact and the rare circumstances allowing this campaign to be successful. All of these singles are at least going top 5 and most to no.1 possibly with a few missing if massive selling competitors come out such as Tsunali Charity record.Start looking forward to FoolSuch As I for No.1 next week.Im already looking forward to Way Down taking this slot as the first single I ever bought. Dig it while you can-fans are in for a real treat over the coming months. For those still searching I would be planning ahead for the future releases which are now already (through pre order on Amazon etc substantially sold out

Elvis replaced at No 1. In the battle for the prestigious 1,000th ever UK Number One single, Elvis has been replaced at the top spot by......ELVIS PRESLEY. Yes 'Jailhouse Rock' has been replaced at Number One by 'One Night', so ELVIS has the 1,000th ever UK number One, along with all the publicity that goes with it, two songs in the UK Top 10, and his own 20th Number One (3 ahead of The Beatles now, who haven't had a Number One since 1969!!!) Just think, every 50th Number One has been Elvis Presley! Elvis also makes another World Record as the only artist to debut at No.1 on consecutive weeks.
