August 05, 2007 | Video
In the US Walmart already has the new Warner and MGM DVD's on sale. The "That's The Way It Is" and "This Is Elvis" DVDs both come with a black book with minimal writing and some pictures. The single disc sets come with a set of 5 large postcard size pictures from the film outtakes. Four are black and white and one is a color reproduction of the movie poster.

Thanks Jerome for my only laugh of the day so far. Next time around they'll give us toe nail clippings.

Actually the postcards are photos and nice ones at that. I'd never seen some of the pictures before. I'm guessing that they are reproductions of the 8x10s sent to theatres who were playing the films.

Ron's right: the postcards are rarely-seen promo shots of Elvis and various characters in the specific movie. It's a nice bonus, nothing more nothing less and is to be applauded, not ridiculed. I picked up most of these Saturday (will be back for the others) and have to say I'm really impressed, by and large. The booklets could have been on better paper, but all told, the films look great and the bonus features on the deluxe movies (VIVA LAS VEGAS, JAILHOUSE ROCK, TTWII original and SE) make it all worthwhile. I'll be going for the upgrade of all these movies, with the possible exception of "Speedway," "Harum Scarum" and others that don't seem to promise anything else new. All told: a great treat for Elvis fans...

Are these Mutli Region?
Iron Man wrote on August 06, 2007
I guess they're not multi region but region 1, as far as I'm concerned. Does anybody know anything about the box set? Does it have the postcards as well or these pictures are only available on the single-disc editions? Mine should arive in about two weeks and I can't wait to get any info ))))

Iron Man, The bonus post cards are in the box set edition as well as the individual editions.

It's a shame that they're not being released individually in UK part from VLV, JHR and TIE. Not everyone can afford £90 on a box set in one hit. And no Tickle Me for the UK either.

William, Thanks for the info! I am waiting anxiously for mine to arrive )))

Amazon in the UK are selling it for £68.99, which seems a good price for so many discs.

I went through Wal-Mart today and found new covers for the Paramount videos as well as the Warner Bros ones. I picked up 'Girls, Girls, Girls', 'Blue Hawaii', 'Fun in Acapulco' and 'Easy Come Easy Go' each was the same price as the Warners titles $7.50.

HMV in the UK are now selling the box set on pre-order at £64.99 including shipping. That's pretty good value per disc.

Anybody in the UK that wants "Tickle Me" on DVD should try Amazon. I have just ordered a copy which will be sent from America and is costing me a mere £4.76 including shipping. You will, of course, need a multi-region DVD player as it is a region one release.

got the UK box set, and the whole thing is very basic - not even titles on the DVD's themselves. No postcards here either, nor any inserts. This is bare minimum stuff. I too was disappointed by the outakes form TTWII. The picture quality is poor, and at times, the motion on the out-takes seem to jerk as if they've been taken from a Super 8 movie. Anyone else noticed this? The pic quality on the original TTWII is ok, but could have been cleaned up. I felt he put his heart and soul into "Oh Happy Day" - he should have included it in the shows. Watched the beginning of Girl Happy to check the ratio, and the print looks excellent - Kissin Cousins looks slightly more grainy. Haven't had a chance to check the others yet.

If you have the original TTWII on DVD or laserdisc and the 2001 Special edition - great, keep them. I am so sorry I sold mine. This new release is awful for 2007. The original movie looks & sounds like a bad VHS tape. The special edition is the same as it was in 2001. We wuz robbed! Hey Warner this isn't the 80's anymore. Let's improve the damn product. I am pissed off!

Steve i truely believe its simply because of who it is,They have no respect for Elvis and none for his fans, think about it,your gonna release a special edition and call songs bonus songs that really arent and give poor quality,i sold my original ttwii dvd but it had bad sound also, the video from 97 however sounds better in my oppion, and some of your people think there gonna give you a On Tour set?Reality is they have never released the original on dvd and think Elvis is a joke Whether its On Tour or TTWII ,ive not even bothered to buy these,im sick of inferior products, how This is Elvis? let me guess bad sound on the live stuff?
