Excellent news!! Unfortunately a lot of the massive early sales from the 50's & the astronomical sales straight after his death were not recorded properly. However, "Children & Grown-ups", which arrived shortly after his death, gives us some hope that things are perhaps now being sorted out? On the other hand it could just be accumulative sales from then until now – but still great news!

Fantastic news. Further, 'Elvis' Christmas Duets' had sold 431,000 by December 2010 - just 69,000 short of a GOLD Award. I expect this to be awarded GOLD early in 2012 if not before.

Brian... Do you have any idea about Sony's attempt to find out the exact sales of European Countires and Asia too? Do they have any plans for this in the future if not?

The Christmas Album from 1970?? I would've lost money on that bet! It doesn't matter, though. All you have to do is take a stroll through the trophy room at Graceland to see that Elvis racked 'em up big time. It's overwhelming to see all those gold and platinum records hanging from floor to ceiling (which in some spots is three stories tall). They even have the award he received for Moody Blue, along with the video footage and the jogging suit he was wearing as he descended from the airplane. That was something to see!

I am reliably informed that a joint EPE/SONY Press Release will be issued relating to the new Awards/Upgrades very soon. Sounds promising.

Reply to Sirbalkan. At this point in time I do not have any information concerning SONY's attempts to document Elvis' European or Worldwide record sales. I would certainly welcome such a move.

To be more accurate the write-up for the album should read: Elvis Presley has been awarded his first Diamond Award for “Elvis’ Christmas Album” (1970 Camden Version) (CAL 2428). The original version of this album (LOC 1035) was the fourth album by Presley released in October, 1957 on RCA Victor Records and the music was recorded at Radio Recorders in Hollywood. It now certified as 3 X Platinum by the RIAA. In the United States, the Recording Industry Association of America awards certifications based on the number of albums and singles sold through retail and other ancillary markets. A Diamond certification means an album has sold more than 10 million copies. When originally released, “Elvis’ Christmas Album” (LOC 1035) spent four weeks at #1 on the Billboard Top Pop Albums chart, and was the first of two Christmas-themed albums Presley would record, the other being “Elvis Sings The Wonderful World of Christmas" (LSP 4759) released in October, 1971. This album is currently certified as 3 X Platinum by the RIAA. Both of these albums can be downloaded on the Elvis Presley Music Store.

I am surprised that Elvis in Person hasn't clocked up more awards. Anyone remember how it performed in the charts?Every award is welcome.
