A promising release for a change.

The original source for this information is Elvis Unlimited. Anyway, this looks to be another fantastic release from FTD. Such a great privilege to be able to obtain many more 1950s session outtakes from own man Elvis. Great stuff!

Elvis in the '50's is Elvis at his peak. It's amazing how much effort was made for this soundtrack. If only Elvis (and the film industry back then) made the efford for the 60's soundtracks as well. We would have more masterpieces like that. Instead the quality started to drop when he returned from the army. But the money kept rolling in so nobody seemed to care for a while. Only a few songs and yet we have 4 cd's of outtakes, amazing! Thanks FTD for making this available. I just love it...

I agree with Steve V's comment below - this one looks like it could be a keeper. I am actually looking forward to an FTD release for a change.

What's the release date?
benny scott wrote on November 05, 2010
According to my contact, release is planned late November, exact date unknown so far. Always El.

I finally will buy an FTD release! Cant wait for it. One of the reasons the efforts in the 60's werent as great , is no more Leiber & Stoller. These guys wanted to continue to write & prduce for Elvis, but you know the old Colonel didnt allow it. Artisrty meant nothing to him compared with the fast buck. How unfortunate ELvis didnt have the guts to stand up for these guys when they were shown the door.

YES, finally again an FTD to look forward to. I'll buy this one as a New Year present!

Finally the track listing for Volume 2. I definitely will be purchasing this FTD CD; my only question is which tracks are binaural aka stereo? I have the feeling quite a few, but nowhere is it indicated. I can't believe all the different takes I've never seen before or were supposedly wiped by RCA. Treat Me Nice (2003) i really look forward to. I have versions 1, 2 & 3 from flashback, but never have I suspected there were other post tracks of what I consider the best version of this song, other than the recorded version. I hope we get this in November 2010 here in the states. Can't wait. Finally an FTD release I really want. Hope the sound quality is better this go-around.

When does FTD release He Touched Me outtakes ?? I'd rather buy that vs. 50 versions of JR.......
Natha wrote on November 05, 2010
KurtKK, something for everybody please. Some fans have been waiting for more than 50 years (in my case 45 years) for this release. For me, I rather have this one than HTM with its many outtakes (which I won't buy). Well, that is the greatness of the Elvis Legacy, I guess.

To me, this is just another great FTD release, and an especially rare treat from the '50s, which have mostly been fully released in terms of rare tapes. That said, there's some hyperbole here and elsewhere. I enjoy that somehow we have 4 CDs out of what was just a small EP's worth, but there's no need to bad-mouth the other titles. I never quite played the first volume all that much, despite all the acclaim, which was deserved. I'm not always even sure he peaked in the '50s either. I don't get the "finally" and the "at last" aspect: nearly all FTDs should be of interest to long-starved fans. If not, it's okay to admit you are more of a casual fan. That's not an insult, just a bit of perspective that it's designed for obsessed completists who lap up each concert and outtake. Thanks to FTD for keeping such titles coming at us!

For me all the studio outtakes are of great interest, even the worst soundtracks. Not so sure about all the soundboards. Sometimes I get tired of hearing the same songs, done with the same arrangement and with not so good quality sound. There are highlights to these as well though. And in the end I buy all of the FTD's, they are my pride and joy...

I have JHR Vol 1. That's enough for me. I don't feel the need to eat to the point of stuffing myself.
Herman wrote on November 06, 2010
Looks good to me but they should have start disc 1 with the original EP - revisited and not at the end of disc 2.
whetherman wrote on November 06, 2010
No. These 6 tracks were at the start of CD 1 on JR Vol.1 so makes sense to put them at the end to close out the set. At least that's if you think they should even be on here at all, after all they are unnecessary repeats!
whetherman wrote on November 06, 2010
Forgot to mention....I'm delighted this FTD is coming out and looking forward to getting it. Well done Ernst.
Tcoil wrote on November 08, 2010
Does anyone know if any of this will be in binaural?
KurtKK wrote on November 08, 2010
Don't understand the funny FTD rationale of the marketing of this one... ?May buy it when it's on sale somewhere.... Which album will be next one : Prom Land ? HeTMe ?? EPBlvd ? Tell us, please; now that we know Speedway outtakes were ...lost at RCA....??!

Just comparing this track listing with Vol 1, there sure are a LOT of duplicates.
Tony C wrote on November 14, 2010
The only actual duplicates on volume one and two are the master takes from the original EP, which will be reprised at the end of the second volume. Obviously many of the songs are the same on both sets, there were only six songs to start with, but they are different versions recorded at different sessions. Keith Flynn explains it all on his excellent website, which is now updated to include details of the second volume. These volumes really are for those that want to hear every take of every version of every song.

Hello guys. I have pre-ordered this gem last week, but wanted to ask if tomorrow was still the date of it's release?
