I'll Remember You

November 14, 2008 | Music

Elvis Unlimited has confirmed with Enrst Jørgensen that the upcoming FTD I'll Remember You will be the midnight show from February 3, 1973 and not the dinner show. Elvis only sang I'll Remember You at the dinner show and not at the midnight show. Therefore the song is included as a bonus song on the new FTD release. Ernst told EU not only was Elvis in great spirits for this show but also that the sound quality is outstanding on this release.

"Just a thought, but perhaps this is the Midnight show on Feb. 3rd ? Perhaps he did the exact same set list at each show." I hate to bring this up again, but these were my words right after the CD was announced. Poor Ernst - he's stabbed more on this forum than Julius Caesar. Give the guy a break with all the criticism. He not perfect and neither are the FTD's, but at least he's giving us something "new" 30+ years after Elvis left the building for the last time.

I simply dont like the direction Ftd has went,im not a fan of buying what i have,i think the regular albums(cd's) should be on store shelves, there are other issues i have like the bad editing bad sound,to me a collectors label should only put out great products.after all we are asked to pay the same price for all releases, but with that said,i dont make mean spirited comments,i have much more important things to worry about, and besides mean spirited comments dont do a thing for anyone,i simply just disagree with the labels direction, nothing more, nothing less!

Dear Mature_fan75. After posting over one hundred messages on this forum that you don't like FTD material, that you don't like the sound on FTD, that you think the FTD CD's are too expensive, and that you think the FTD guys are ripping you off (although you never buy the FTD CD). Heavens sake, man. You repited the same ongoing critical comments 19 (sic!) times on the last FTD news item here on elvisnews.com just four days ago. Well, you can now rest assure that we are all VERY familiar with your negative opinion on FTD. OK? Pleeeeease move on. Personally I think it is always best to wait until I have checked out a CD or another product before I start giving it positive or negative points. Nobody has yet to hear the upcoming FTD release, so maybe we should wait a couple of more weeks before slaughtering it? Just a thought...

mature75 isn't entirely wrong in his opinions. I appreciate Ernst's hard work these last 20 years but if he were to listen to some critisisms here i'm sure he'll be welcomed for another 20! As it is I'm buying these concerts because well ...I dig Elvis and I like the concert years, be they from '69 or '77. Just to prove how sad I am I just recently listened to about 10 concerts from one season night after night when I came home from work. To me its an insight to life on stage and on the road with Elvis.

Mature_fan75: I don't mean to be rude. Honestly. I just want to explain to you that it gets kind of boring and tiresome reading your multiple and almost identical negative statements on each and every FTD news item on this site. Picture driving your car on a long field trip one sunny day, with a small kid in the back seat constantly screaming and yelling "I don't want Coca Cola!! I want Pepsi!!" For sure, it would most likely reflect the kid's true opinion and innermost feelings. But after one hundred repetitions, one should expect that both the driver (Ernst & Roger), and the other passengers (us other readers of elvisnes.com) has got the message. Believe me, we have. You don't like the guys running FTD. OK. Got it. Now let's get on with our lives. And have a pleasant evening.

Again its my view,i was dissapointed to see were the label headed, and i say the same thing because some dont like my original view, and it seems you have to explain it all over again, and again you will find no attacks towards anyone, just the label as a whole, there is a difference,i would not hear these kind of reactions if i praised everything Ftd over and over, again none of my posts are offensive, but being called a child is a put down and not needed,ok does that explain it all, lets all move on,enjoy the latest batch of Ftds.im getting in person ,passing on the others!

Good post Hans Otto, and I so agree with you. I too, get tired of people complaining about the various FTD Releases. If you don't like the material, simply, don't buy it ! Ernest, supposely said.. "Elvis is in great spirits and the sound is outstanding". How can you beat that? I Look forward to buying this FTD CD !! Elvis Forever !!
Matt W wrote on November 15, 2008
Kevin - let me get this straight, this new FTD turns out that it will include a totally unreleased show and you are STILL badmouthing FTD?
Matt W wrote on November 15, 2008
Also, you say you don't like the direction FTD took? Well, the only ADDITIONAL releases they began where the soundtrack and classic album 7" releases. Since Sony/BMG where not keeping this material on the shelves FTD came to the rescue. And thank goodness we are not forced to buy anything we don't want to. Let me know what you think of the classic "In Person" release when it becomes available - if it weren't for the thoughtfulness of FTD we wouldn't be getting it plus an unreleased concert for the price of a SINGLE disc!
Graeme J wrote on November 15, 2008
If This release is as good as The cd "Vegas Rhythm" then it will be a fantastic show. The Vegas Rhythm show was the dinner show and Elvis is in a great mood and singing great and the quality is excellent and I think better than the Alloha concert. I'm certainly looking forward to this release
Bob Finkel wrote on November 15, 2008
GraemeJ you're right! I am also looking forward to this release. In 1973 Elvis voice was powerful and strong. But let me say something general: Some like more the studio stuff and some like more the live stuff. And a few love everything. I am collecting all FTD CD's and Books. Why? Because I love Elvis Presley, his music and his movies and very special his live concerts. So FTD has released -and will release, I hope- several stuff of Elvis. Some liked it, some not. But overall Ernst has done a good job. The Elvis Country CD are sounding very good and better than ever. Very good job, Ernst. But some FTD CD's are very bad. 'Unchained Melody' for example. Elvis has done a good job on this tour, but Ernst did not. The track 'Where no one stands alone' is very scratchy and not as Ernst told us recorded badly. So Ernst, take more care of the following FTD CD's. Remember the letters TCB.

Well..well..well ! I'm really happy with this excellent news! My compliments to all those loyal members who took Ernst's defence ! Eagerly waiting for the reaction of some others, like ( per example) Snowman and Linda Kovalcik, two of the worst Ernst-bashers IMHO. Satisfied now critisizers, or rather disappointed FTD is releasing a top-product ? Always El.

I said i wasnt buying it,its not my favorite era of live shows, its a view,it wont stop anyone from buying it,as for in person how is paying 30 usd and getting 2 discs make one of the disc free? thats 15 usd a piece,so dont see the free part,Bob thats all i have said, that there are issues with Ftd that need to be corrected,by the way this bashing ernst thing, although i personally have not bashed him,if someone does, remember its still not personal, they might not like how he is running things, when your in charge of such a big thing like Ftd,you know your going to not get all postative feedback!
genedin wrote on November 15, 2008

FTDs are not manufactured in the USA, they are manufactured in Europe and hence should be considered import CDs in the USA (no, not "import" that is incorrectly used to label bootleg CDs). Of course they are going to be more expensive in your territory. That's not FTDs fault is it? You should direct your pricing complaints to your dealer. Funny - because I remember bootlegs costing more per single disc release, as for doubles - well they eclipse FTDs prices! When you have something positive to say about FTD let me know - I'll enjoy reading it!

Mature Elvis is just giving his opinion so why critisize him. It's his opinion & he's entitled to it. He's not telling anyone what to do so please respect that.

Thanks,i have bought all of the Ftd except the last batch and im getting in person from the next batch but will except the Ill remember you Ftd if offered as gift (joking),how about a aug 70 show for next Ftd?
Matt W wrote on November 16, 2008
It's fine to have an opinion - but to ram it into the ground at every given opportunity gets old very quickly - and some of the comments laid against FTD and the people behind it are completely out of place. If one were to take these opinions as gospel we would be led to believe FTD have never released anything of worth and that they freely rip us off. This is simply not the case.

Matt W....you wanna read something positive about FTD? here we go. i´m a total newcomer to the elvis world. just 1,5 years i call myself a fan, after watching the 68 comeback special on TV. as i discovered the FTD label it gets me out of my seat. a label just taking care of elvis´music. that´s wonderful! i know no other artist who has this in such a professional and passioned way. only for that fact, you have to give your support to Ernst and his team. you don´t have to buy all releases to keep this label going. it´s your choice! but you can give an objective view to new fans what FTD is about. spread it! i don´t buy all releases (don´t like SB´s) and i have also things to critisize: the digipacks should come up with a booklet, sometimes not so clever editing, or with the new release "Country", i would love to hear it without "i was born about..." in between the songs. but FTD makes the decision to release the classic/original albums, and so they do. and i´m sure there are a lot of fans who like the original way "Country" goes. and that´s the point. you can´t always satisfy everyone at everytime. maybe i´m totally satisfied with the next release and another fan is a little diappointed. that´s life! the idea behind FTD is to release Elvis music, and that´s a very good idea. got my support!

Ram into the ground the same way you are with your complaint of my complaint? yes i see what you mean do you see what i mean? never said they ddnt release anything good, and i dont think someone is gonna be turned off of Ftd if i dont like every release, now let it go already!

Man. I had hoped that you, Mature_fan75, were able to absorb at least some of the various feedback you have received on this forum the last few days. But this seem to be a lost case. Once again, you have - so far - posted SIX (6) comments on this last FTD newsitem. You must believe all us other readers of elvisnews.com are quite boneheaded since you keep on hammering the same negative comments against FTD again and again and again - always using the same old accusations? Don't you get tired of this, yourself? And regarding to your statement that "you will find no attacks towards anyone" in your hundreds of attacks on the competance and morals of the persons behind FTD. Well, if I were Ernst or Roger, I wouldn't exactly invite you to Christmas dinner with the family...
Orion wrote on November 16, 2008
Hans, ol' buddy, you hit the nail on the head with one word "boneheaded." That's all you had to say for me to realize that the best way to deal with some of the people on this board is to ignore them. After a while they will drop off. As far as this release goes, I'm really looking forward to this show. As Ernst put it, Elvis was in great spirits and shape. He had just returned from a great and historic trip to Hawaii where he kicked some major arse. This should be a fine show to have.

Yes one does repeat thereselves when someone wants to tell someone what views to have, how in the hect am i bothering you? im not the one responding to others views with a how dare you feel that way attitude,if finding fault with something makes me a bad guy then so be it,this isnt a charity label, the only reason there have been so many replys is some like for everyone to have same view as thereself! And the whole if you dontl ike it dont buy it comments is used time after time but still holds no merit, its like going out to eat & your food comes uncooked and the waiter says well if you dont like how its cooked then dont eat it! Hans you and the rest of dont know me at all,and its funny and sad at the same time that you take so much effort and worry about what someone posts on such a trivial thing,p.s this is my last comment on this subject, enjoy your digipacks!
