Elvis 1st ?...Quite understandable...but the Beatles not in the top 10 ?...Quite a lack of objectivity !

Not only that, but where is Little Richard, the Doors, Tom Petty, the Rolling Stones, the Who...the list is just a list. When Evanescence and the Foo Fighters end up in the top 10, you have to deny the list any real credibility.
Tiger-man-GB wrote on November 28, 2007
Better still where's Jerry Lee Lewis, Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran & Buddy Holly? To name just a few.

If you go to the site and look at the full list, you will see some of the names you have mentioned. They are just way down the list. The King just blows everyone else out of the water. It's really not fair to Elvis, because most of the rest are groups. The #2 solo artist, is David Bowie, way down at #22. The votes are from anyone who goes to the site. If you want someone higher on the list, go vote. I'm happy with Elvis at #1, where he belongs.

Great to see Elvis currently topping this Poll. However, do not be complacent. I have noticed that over the past few days Led Zeppelin's votes have been double that of Elvis. In the circumstances would everyone please vote once a day.

The King and Led Zepp are, in my pion of vue, in fact the two greatest Rock'n'Roll acts ever! In that matter the poll in very right. Bizzare to see the Stones and the Who in such a low point... Anyway Rock'n'Roll rules... TCB

U2, Green Day, Nirvana, AC/DC, Pink Floyd ? Got nothing to do with rock 'n roll in my mind...where is Chuck Berry ? or Jerry Lee Lewis ? Just to name a few..

Is great for Mr. Elvis Presley and I am sick for little-brain persons like elviskid80. And excuse me is my opinion.

Strange poll. Obviously done a 60's crowd. It's shows what a great icon the King is. To top the poll that even the Beatles or Stones couldn't crack. Fantastic! Kudos to The King!

This poll is a joke! Evanescence should ne number one with Green Day as close second. Who is this Elvis Pressley???
Steve V wrote on November 29, 2007
Oldscudder - 60's crowd? You kidding? More like a 1990's-2000 crowd. I mean Evanessence, Green Day, Foo Fighters are def not a 60's crowd votes. This poll is insane except for Elvis being number 1. The only other legit top 10 here is Led Zepp with U2 (maybe). But no Beatles, Stones, Dylan, Chuck, Doors, etc etc.? Def not a 60's crowd.

What? No Robbie Williams, Take That, Jimmy Osmond, A Flock Of Seagulls, The The, Atomic Kitten or Nana Mouskouri?
EspenK wrote on November 30, 2007
Strictly speaking, isn't rock'n'roll a specific sub-genre of rock, with its own very recognisable sound? A genre that hardly anyone has played for decades (with the rare exception of bands like Stray Cats)? Also, very few of Elvis' recordings over the years were rock. So statistically speaking he wasn't a "rocker" either, per say. If I may be a bit nerdy here :)
My boy, my boy wrote on November 30, 2007
EspenK, you've got a point here. Even Elvis himself refered a lot more to Gospel, Rythm & Blues and ballads as his favorite music styles. But on the other hand, if he's still known as the greatest Rock star ever, it's because he was the one fate chose to definitely make this new music emerged for a new generation. You can't help but to associate Elvis to that era. It's frozen in time !

Elvis not really a Rocker and didn't sing that many rock songs. Did i read that right?.

I've been watching this poll and voting, but the thing that struck me was the group Evanescence, I was thinking who the hell are they? I've never heard of them, can't even pronounce the name! What do they sing?

I tried to vote for ELVIS but was told no because he has not released any new material for 2007, so how is he even on the list , he's not. so whats everbody talkin about.
Kenneth wrote on December 01, 2007
I just found out that the list ELVIS is on is called the hall of fame list, that's what you vote on.

Andy Fish: Count'em and you will see that I'm right. He did far more pop, country and ballades than he did rock tracks, if you count'em.By using statistics it would probably be more correct to call him "the king of pop". That would also prevent Michael Jackson of claiming that title, too. The band Evanescence is a hugely successful rock band that has delivered some quality productions to the music world the last decade or so. If you haven't even *heard* about them, I'd say you are disqualified to even vote on these kind of polls.

Mr. Elvis Presley is the winner ... ;)
Andy_Fish wrote on December 01, 2007
Hi EspenK, yes i do know who Evanescence are. Elvis was a rocknroll artist from 54-58, rock artist from 60-77 and yes he sang all kinds of music but to describe Elvis as anything other than a Rocker means you really don't understand Elvis the Artist. Rock includes ballads as well ( True love travels on a gravel road for instance ) and each album has examples of these along with the rock songs from Elvis is back through to Moody blue. It was Elvis's success as a rock artist that allowed him to record Gospel and the second rate covers in the 70's.

Andy: Yes the comment about Evascense wasnt directed at you. It's the totally idiotic removal of enter that the moron of a moderator keeps removing manually that renders some of our comments unreadable (or at least easy to misunderstand). To whoever it may concern: Get a hobby. We are perfectly able to format our comments without help.

MyBoy! MyBoy! Remember, we can each vote for Elvis once a day until the contest ends. The percentages can change quickly--only a couple of weeks ago Elvis was 16.7% and the runner up was 8.7%. So let's not be complacent about this. Let's vote every day!!

Led Zep just played their first concert since 1980 last night. I am reading the reviews on the internet and they are all rave reviews. Amazing that this band is doing this 30 years after Elvis died and 27 years after their last time on stage & sounding as good as ever. Elvis' last rave review? It was probably Aloha. Altho Im not a ZEP fan, this says something to me.
ext_mnx wrote on December 11, 2007
I am always read the Elvis' last rave review .... and is the winner losers
Kenneth wrote on December 12, 2007
what does it say to you steve v ?
Steve V wrote on December 12, 2007
It says to me that Led Zep has a tremendous endurance and these groups (Stones included) that supposedly had so many drug problems are still rocking 40 yrs later and putting on great shows. Yet Elvis is dead 30 years , from drugs, and his last years were sparodic at best and for a young man was in worse shape than these guys are in their 60's. What is says to me is sadnes of what might have been.
ext_mnx wrote on December 12, 2007
Your opinions Steve V. are fools. Elvis wins in the poll, and is all ... your and zep lost ;P
Steve V wrote on December 12, 2007
You missed by point totally. Not surprising with some of the posts I see on this site. Of course Im glad Elvis wins the poll. Im not glad he's been gone for 30 yrs and groups like Zep continue to rock on. Anyway this poll is a joke. Evanessence, greatest # 3 of all time? No Beatles, Stones, Bruce. Cmon. You actually take this seriously?
