Elvis' Imperials Looking For A New Tenor

November 05, 2009 | People
The youngest member of the 'Elvis' Imperials', tenor Gus Gaches, informed ElvisMatters that he will leave the gospel quartet. The Elvis Cruise that will sail off next week will be his last performance with the group.
Besides a singer, Gus is also a producer. He got an offer to change his musical carreer, but this opportunity does not allow him to keep up with the busy schedule of Elvis' Imperials. Gus says he is blessed that he was able to be part of the Elvis family during the past years.

How many of the original Imperials are left? I can recognise one!

I am Buffalo-Horn!, two of The Imperials that performed with Elvis are part of the current line-up, namely Terry Blackwood and Joe Moscheo. Joe is also author of "The Gospel Side Of Elvis" and was involved in the production of the DVDs "He Touched Me: The Gospel Music Of Elvis Presley" and "Elvis Lives: The 25th Anniversary Concert". Sherman Andrus, who is also part of the current line-up joined the group in 1972, shortly after The Imperials ceased touring with Elvis, and although they never performed together, Elvis did give Sherman a TCB Pendant.
