Dutch Elvis Updates

November 28, 2003 | Other
Amsterdam is slowly turning into ´Elvis City´ for the upcoming Christmas time.

The famous warehouse ´De Bijenkorf´ has a very special treat for Elvis fans, starting december first. From that day you will be able to buy your own, special Elvis version of the Apple I-Pod player. The I-Pod is a mini-jukebox, the size of a small walkman, that has a hard-disk of 20GB, good for 4000 Elvis songs. The special Elvis version will already hold the "2nd To None" and the two remixes of "Rubberneckin´" by Jason Nevin. The Elvis I-Pod will only be for sale in Amsterdam and only 100 are available. Also: on the outside one of the large windows will be dressed up with ONLY Elvis, it will be a treat to watch, and the "2nd To None" album will be "CD Of The Month" for a special price.

Then on December 9th, a special christmas music special will be broadcast at NET5. Famous people from the Netherlands will present their favourite Christmas songs and small clips will be shown. Elvis will be in the show with "Blue Christmas". After the broadcast viewers can vote for the best song presented on a special website (to be up real soon): www.alle15kerst.nl. On december 16th the Christmas top 15 will be shown so let´s hope Elvis will reach numeber one there. Also mentioned on that program and on the website will be the ´Elvis Second2None Party´, that will take place on January 8th, 2004, in Paradiso, Amsterdam, with the TCB Band and Dutch artists.

The Amsterdam / National newspaper "Het Parool" will publish an interview with the TCB Band held in Paris this coming month.

Why exactly is the Dutch i-pod called the "Elvis" ipod? surely it can't be just because a couple of current Elvis CDs have been MP3'd onto it? Is it engraved "Elvis"? (You can have your your ipod engraved free anyway (Yes, I have an Apple Mac G4!) so what makes this a special Elvis edition? Anyone know?
