Bubba Ho-Tep Sequel Likely

October 09, 2004 | Video
A sequel to the movie Bubba Ho-Tep could go ahead, it was revealed today. In the first film, which is currently showing in some UK cinemas, an aged Elvis Presley battles to protect his old people's home from mummies with the power of sucking the souls out of the elderly.

Director Don Coscarelli told Yahoo Movies that the film's star Bruce Campbell could soon be back for another adventure.

He said, "Things are looking quite good. MGM was very happy with the results in the States, the UK's looking very solid, there's a lot of fan interest in it - and Bruce would love to play some more of the old hound dog!"

This first movie was great and entertaining, especially, the dvd version with the movie comment was hillarious. Hope to see part 2 released in the future. Everyone who is sceptic, just enjoy the humor cause it's not really our King (that's for the fans who can't take any joke about Elvis) The image is one thing, the human beeing is another, i'll put it that way...

I hear that it will be a prequel -- Bubba Nosferatu!

I've seen this. What a load of old tosh! Elvos - if it were a deceased member of your family being portrayed in a film in this way, would you take it as a joke? Some of us admire him enough that we don't want to see him or his image used to get a cheap laugh. The image is one thing, the man another. Yet I'm sure Elvis himself realised that both were inseperable. Still, if you must waste your money on stuff that furthers the cause of those who wish to portray Elvis as a fugure of fun then go ahead. Don't tell me, I should "lighten up" or "get a life". I have a life (and a sense of humour) - it just doesn't involve watching others make fun of someone I admire. It's bad enough that we have to suffer the jibes of those too stupid to realise his talent and influence. Poking fun at him and/or his image just gives them the ammunition they need. I don't see why I should accept any joke about the man. Jokes about him are usually meant in a negative sense. Why would a fan of Elvis wish to hear that? The point is, you may look on it has not being "Elvis", others won't. They'll just continue to see him as they do now - a fat guy who took drugs, ate cheeseburgers and wore glittery jumpsuits. I happen to think he deserves more than cheap insults.

That's great! I loved the first movie. Elvis as a hero, playing himself. It would have been exactly the kind of movie Elvis would have loved. You cannot tell me that Clambake compares with this, it doesn't. Elvis deserved far better scripts. Bruce Campbell makes a GREAT Elvis and he doesn't do a parody. It's totally believable.

I agree with RonBaker. Have people forgotten how elvis enjoyed things like dr. strangelove and monty python? i'm sure he would have gotten a kick out of Bubba Ho Tep. Bruce Campbell is great in it and in no way is Elvis put down. bring on the sequel or prequel!!
