Take off your shoes, put down your hair
Turn on the music and we'll get somewhere
Dance, dance, dance, til nose gets tan
We're gonna have us a ball on the beach
a-slicin' sand

Hug me a heap, swing me a lot
We got a lot of ocean if it gets too hot
O-o-o, o-o-o, baby, take my hand
We'll have some real rockin' fun in the sun
a-slicin' sand

Come baby, come, let's dig some holes
You'll find it's heaven with sand on you soles

Slide through to the left, slide to the right
Slash down the middle baby hold me tight
O-o-o, o-o-o, baby, hold my hand
We'll have some real rockin' fun in the sun
slicin' sand

The ultimate "garbage album" Blue Hawaii including this contrived, ridiculous soundtrack song. 1-star, and that's being generous. The start of the long slide into mediocrity.

I kinda like this song. Okay, it has dumb lyrics, but besides that, it's not so bad.

Though certainly not his best album or even one of his best rockers, it was impossible to tell at that time how successful this soundtrack would become. In hindsight, it's too bad it was so successful. It really set the pattern for everything that followed. "Blue Hawaii" doesn't even compare to "Elvis is Back," yet it out-sold it by millions. Bitter-sweet for Elvis, really. The potential we all saw in films like "King Creole" and "Jailhouse Rock" were shattered by "Blue Hawaii" and "G.I. Blues." Even "Flaming Star" still showed that raw acting talent. To blame the fans for buying what was available really isn't fair. We all simply could not get enough and still can't! It's what we have to remember him by and to listen to, for better or for worse. Every artist has their highs and lows. Elvis was certainly no exception. When it's all said and done, oen thing cannot be denied; the man could flat-out sing anything. Love Elvis! Long live the King......

I like this soundtrack.I'll give this song 31/2 stars. And it's the fans to blaim that this soundtrack almost outsold every studio album Elvis made, even the great EIB.

Blue Hawaii was really the beginning of the lean soundtrack years and the beginning of Elvis' lame 60's output. An album I really dislike because of that reason. A silly song like this? Forced rock and roll with mundane lyrics. Out of the 14 songs, I can maybe tolerate 3. Awful.

Not really my cup of tea, but I have to admit if this song was longer, it had a better movie/commercial potential. Star made a wonderful job with the movie clip and an extra long mix of this song. Anyway have to say that it still keeps right on a hurting' to think that a year before Presley was making Rock History, again, in the Elvis is back session and in March 1961... this!

An uptempo number that is one of the weaker songs on a great album. Fun it might be, worthy of being in the film maybe, but unfortunately it loses a lot when committed to vinyl. Stepping Out of Line would have been a better film song inclusion.

This is such a stellar and exciting song and it's such a fun song to dance along to as well.

Not a great song, but a fun, rollicking, short track from the "Blue Hawaii" soundtrack. Elvis sounds like he is having fun (the outtakes where he says "too many whomps" is hysterical). Good for what it is, a chance for Elvis to dance and light up the screen with his charisma, charm and singing voice.
