Known Only to Him

Words & Music: Stuart Hamblen
Known only to him are the great hidden secrets
I'll fear not the darkness when my flame shall dim
I know not what the future holds
But I know who holds the future
It's a secret known only to Him
In this world of fear and doubt
On my knees I ask the question
Why a lonely, heavy cross I must bear
Then he tells me in my prayer
It's because I am trustworthy
He gives me strength far more than my share
Known only to him are the great hidden secrets
I'll fear not the darkness when my flame shall dim
I know not what the future holds
But I know who holds the future
It's a secret known only to Him
Recorded: 1960/10/30, first released on His Hand in Mine

One of the many gospel tunes I never tire of, when I'm in the mood to play and listen.
This track & album just get better & better, never tire of them.
Beautifully performed spiritual. About as perfect as it gets.
He could really reach one's soul with these gospel performances.
Solemn track. I prefer the upbeat gospels, but this slow one is beautiful too.
One of my favorite gospels. Very strong lyrics. Elvis' voice here is really fantastic and he believes every word he sings..
Like all the tracks from the HHIM album, great recording, Elvis really did give these recordings everything. Everyone on the album was great and i love this time of year (Christmas) so that i can put it on my cd player along with the Christmas recordings.
Rather difficult to write someting new about these beautiful HHIM recordings. GREAT!
Not a favorite of mine but an excellent choice on the day of the King's funeral at Graceland...
A wonderful, sacred song from Elvis' first sacred LP "His Hand In Mine" (1960). Elvis sings this one with a sweet, soft voice and the Jordanaires are perfect with their background vocals. Elvis treated all the songs on this album with great reverance and each song seems to have deep meaning for him. This is not the best track on the album, but all 12 are first rate.
His Hand In Mine was a remarkable gospel album and this is one of the many great tracks and performances on it
