Hold me close, hold me tight
Make me thrill with delight
Let me know where I stand from the start
I want you, I need you, I love you
With all my heart

Ev'ry time that you're near
All my cares disappear
Darling, you're all that I'm living for
I want you, I need you, I love you
More and more

I thought I could live without romance
Before you came to me
But now I know that
I will go on loving you eternally

Won't you please be my own?
Never leave me alone
'Cause I die ev'ry time we're apart
I want you, I need you, I love you
With all my heart
Recorded: 1956/04/14, first released on single

4-stars. One of those songs that rings nostalgic for yours truly, first heard on the 45RPM Extended Play "The Real Elvis" by me.

A disappointing 50's track. I always play & sing it must slower, which sounds better to me.

This ballad typified 1956 Elvis for me, with the atmosphere, and style of recording and the unique vocal delivery. I first heard it on the Golden Records album UK version and found listening to each track a magical journey.

I love Elvis, the balladeer. Singer of love songs. But this has never been a fave of mine.

Recorded right after experiencing severe engine problems with his aeroplane which put the fear of God into Elvis and he was also presented with his first Gold disc for heartbreak Hotel What a day! Great song. I've always liked the live version he did on the Steve Allen show. I like his phrasing there.

Great song, although the flip side was one of his all time best rock and roll songs and covered by many. Still, this is one of the best 50's ballads and still sounds great. Much better than Love Me Tender.

A good song which apparently came to be by splicing parts of two different takes together as the completed versions weren't good enough for release. The session taking place soon after a near fatal plane journey which resulted in Elvis being far from his best for a recording session.

The release of this recording was to prove that Elvis was not going to be a one hit wonder. Great sound, great ballet, great hit. But why was it left off the #1's Cd?

A worthy single after Heartbreak Hotel and coupling it with My Baby Left Me kept everyone happy.
