More Super High Media Releases

October 30, 2008 | Music
BMG Japan will release ten more original Elvis titles on the Super High Media format.
The titles, due January 8, 2009, are:

Elvis [SHM-CD]
50,000,000 Elvis Fans Can't Be Wrong; Elvis' Gold Records, Vol.2 [SHM-CD]
Elvis Is Back! [SHM-CD]
G.I. Blues [SHM-CD]
Elvis' Golden Records, Vol.3 [SHM-CD]
How Great Thou Art [SHM-CD]
From Elvis In Memphis [SHM-CD]
On Stage, February 1970 [SHM-CD]
Elvis As Recorded At Madison Square Garden [SHM-CD]
Moody Blue [SHM-CD]

The high quality Super High Material CD format features enhanced audio quality through the use of a special polycarbonate plastic. Using a process developed by JVC and Universal Music Japan discovered through the joint companies' research into LCD display manufacturing, SHM-CDs feature improved transparency on the data side of the disc, allowing for more accurate reading of CD data by the CD player laser head. SHM-CD format CDs are fully compatible with standard CD players.
Released October 22, 2008 are:

Elvis Presley [SHM-CD]
Elvis' Golden Records [SHM-CD]
Blue Hawaii [SHM-CD]
That's The Way It Is [SHM-CD]
Aloha From Hawaii [SHM-CD]

Has anyone heard these cds? How do they really differ (if at all) from regular cds? Is there as much a difference as there is in SACD?

So that's these ones, the 30-CD set and whatever new technology that comes along next week that we have to buy... I don't think so.

Your bog standard CD player aint going to notice a damn thing. It's the same with all the so-called re-mixed - better quality junk that the label tries to put out and uses the quality as a selling point. If you have a $5000 dollar music system - you may hear the difference - to the rest of us - a waste of money.

That's nothing ! I can top this ! I dug a hole last week and built me an underground room with no dust and an atomic air pollution filter. So the soundwaves could conquer my hearing nerves absolutely undisturbed. Adding to this some better polycarbonate plastics and some more new technology and some day soon I will hear Elvis better than he did hear himself.

Hey Santa, can I come round and have a listen

Ron, how they differ is in their expensive price.

Seems like more and more cats here are latching on to the various record company scams.

this is fantastic news, every upgrade will be welcomed by collectors. Personally I'll be skipping it but I'm very happy for my friend who just got divorced and is happy to spend his money on new items..

I don't recommend Elvis' SHM-CDs, because BMG Japan reused old stampers which included "original noises" on the mastertapes. So SHM-CD series will not be for fans of Elvis, but for audio-check maniacs. I can clearly say so. Another information from Japan is probably good to the members of ElvisNews. 12 CDs (not SHM-CD) of paper sleeve series will release with bonus tracks on Nov.26. Some of bonus songs will pick up from "Our Memories Of Elvis" & "Vol.2".

Allright Folks, enough is enough. We will NOT buy CDs with japenese on it (that we can't even read). What is wrong to get the MISSING "prioirty" unpublished material ? There's only ten or 12 FTD digipacks missing of studio outtakes, the JerryReed/Elvis sessions with outtakes, the remaining movie FTD digis and then the famous OnTour 72 Box...the rest is enhanced material we still expect from Ernst of the MSqG and Aloha concerts and maybe also the American Studios famed session (complete please...with lots of outtakes that we already have on boots, but in inferior quality than FTD's). Hurry up Jorgesen and Semon...we are running out of time & money!Folks, if you all complain only about the bad pricing, may we suggest you kindly but firmly request/demand E&R to release those missing PRIOIRTY sessions (Gma, USMale, KCreole a.o.) and then the rest of the FTD movie digipacks like KCousins, Roust, Sppedw & his last 5 movies). We also believe that Ernst was right a long time ago by releasing those Classic Double Albums...except he should have ADDED bonus songs to those to make it more successful for the general public. He should also have coupled those albums differently (why not do it again, this time the right way Ernst) i.e.: Prom Land with RonRock + bonus songs on one CD; GTimes with Fool album on one CD+bonus, Love letters with Now plus bonus; EPBlvd with Moody Blue plus bonus songs. A rip of according to some fans...well if you want to keep E's image & sales up high in the eyes/interest of the general public worldwide you gotta compromise...we fear. Jody and me, we will NOT buy those abovementionned japanese CDs.
