Error On "Almost In Love" Reissue

May 25, 2006 | Music
Sony / BMG Special Product has re-released two original Camden LP's on CD in the USA. Both feature a sticker on front with the mention "Newly Remastered - Original Artwork''. On the CD ''Almost In Love'' track 10 is listed as "Stay Away Joe'', but the actual song on the CD is''Stay Away''.

Track listing:

Almost in Love
Long Legged Girl (With a Short Dress On)
Edge of Reality
My Little Friend
A Little Less Conversation
Rubberneckin'
Clean up Your Own Backyard
U.S. Male
Charro
Stay Away (no "Sat Away Joe" - take 17 as originally listed)

Update from reader's reaction: The last track was supposed to be "Stay Away" but somehow the alternate take 17 of "Stay Away, Joe" was included instead. That was a mistake back then, and later issues of the Camden LP actually corrected this by including "Stay Away". Still, it's a strange item in that they now actually have released the album on CD as it was intended, but still keep the error of the previous mistake on the cover.

Did'nt they do the same thing when the original vinyl LPs were released? I'm sure they did. Seems a bit coincidental> LOL

The first Camden LP's included some rare remixes, only to be found on these albums. I sure hope they will release more of those famous Camden albums on CD. I have You'll Never Walk Alone. Even though it doesn't have the original album cover. The CD contain the first, original US release, with those rare stereo tracks at the time. Later issues of that album were all mono, at least here in EU.

I think it is better to release this album than the same old same old Greatest hits albums also for the public cause they see that there are more songs than Hound dog or Love me tender. BMG, good job !

You would think that RCA would finally get it right! The mistake on the "Almost In Love" CD is typical. I have not been able to find the CD yet. I have found "Flaming Star" though for about $6 and saw it on another Elvis site for $30!!! What's up with that? They say it's a limited edition. Rip off if you ask me. Anyway "Flaming Star" also has several mistakes on it. Check out the years listed by the tracks on the insert. Most of them are way off. Like I said, typical RCA.

Yes, I know other Camden albums are around, but they sound lousy. For instance have you heard the Re-release of Almost In Love compared to the earlier release? The difference in sound quality is like night and day. Not too mention the new packaging which is much better. Elvisfan: They did get it right. They sound great!! It's the music that counts.
