Welcome To A Wonderful Whirl

October 11, 2011 | Music

The new Uranus label just released their first CD containing the previously unreleased Dinner Show from May 11, 1973 in Lake Tahoe. Since Uranus was able to lay their hands on a first generation recording of the show, the sound is exceptionally good for an audience recording. Be surprised how great an Audience Recording can sound! The CD is packed in a paper sleeve like the Japanese paper sleeve collection or the double albums from the past. A 16 page booklet packed with color pictures completes this wonderful debut of a new label. On a mission to boldly go where no man has gone before!

What sort of 'new' label calls itself URANUS!!,......Let's hope this label will not end up being the butt.......sorry but of many jokes.

One of the poorest designs since the early 90s (disregarding some FTDs)

Anyone information about the sound quality?

Be careful about criticizing this release, lest the "audience recording gods" strike you down for having an opinion contrary to their own. I'll play it safe and say that the artwork is delightful, the show is perfect, and sound is great!! Oh yeah, and the Star Trek reference, that's just beautiful!! Why hasn't FTD caught on to that?

Don't worry about god and striking down. We all know what it is: an AR, so the basics are clear. I don't and won't expect a SR. Yet there are differences. So has anyone heard this already?

What we have on cdr is average..soundwise..but the show is not bad..Elvis is very committed and we have an excellent setlist....I am just afraid they have just copied the cdr which makes it no real listening pleasure..just a guess though..cause I see no 2001 Theme on the track listing..and it is also missing on the cdr..;-)..but anyway...good show..

Can I congrtulate the producers of this and say up Uranus?

Paper sleeve. Well if this release is actually like sh*t you luckily have paper to use..

The show is o.k..no congrats..though..bad layout it seems..just copied and pasted from cdr it seems..

Well I'm certainly not buying it if 2001 is missing. If they found it after the Cds were pressed and had a website where it could be posted, then I'd say stick it up, Uranus.
