'Viva Elvis' Cabs

February 24, 2010 | Other

It's no news that Las Vegas is the capitol of neon lights, but it IS new that the Vegas cabs are decorated with neon lights. Yes...Elvis is responsible for this...Since the premiere of 'Viva Elvis', cabs on the Vegas strip are making promotion for the show with a remarkable Elvis silhouet in neon lights.

I Live in Vegas, but have not seen the show yet (kinda pricey), but a guy at work who's girl works for the show took him to see it (twice, before the premire and on opening night) They tweeked many things to make it better. He was not an Elvis fan before going to see this. Now at work he is always bugging me to play some Elvis music or DVD. He said he just didn't know Elvis body of work was so vast. He also said there is a lot of pyrotechinics in the show and opening night the smoke set off the fire alarms and shut off the power for a brief time...maybe it was Elvis??!!

This is cool. I didn't notice the cabs while I was there. The show is definitely great. For an experienced Elvis fan, it lacks the depth of his story that we are inclined to look for but, overall, it is excellent. It is an entertaining way to introduce an audience to Elvis. That is what I think the producers have in mind. The talent of all the dancers, acrobats, scenery, lights, etc. Terrific. A truly awesome experience. I showed a clip of the video to some of my non-Elvis fans & they are ready to see it. I think the idea is working!

Colonel Parker would have been proud of this one. He did the same for Elvis when he opened in Vegas in 1969.
