Vegas Variety Volume 8

February 17, 2012 | Music

Rainbow announced number 8 in their Vegas Variety series.

Press-release

To be released March 2nd, 2012: Rainbow Records proudly presents Volume 8 of their series “Vegas Variety”, featuring the complete performance of August 6, 1972 Midnight Show at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel, Nevada.

Rainbow Records is again able to deliver a very fine show in really nice sound, recorded by some fans tape recorder which has been secretly brought with by a fan. It is important for many Elvis-Fans to have just about every show Elvis ever did in their collection. Unfortunately there is no soundboard or professional recording available for every show. But still we are fortunate enough to hear most of the concerts because of the private recordings many fans did when they visited Elvis in Las Vegas and on his many tours. Those recordings might sound a bit rough to some ears but they are what they are: A document of Elvis´ big output of live performances.
As usual a very high quality booklet comes with this release. It has a lot of pictures and information covering the magic of Elvis and Las Vegas back in August/September of 1972 on its 20 pages.

i like the vegas variety series but to be honest im not that interested in this one. Little Sister/Get Back incomplete, Suspicious Minds Incomplete. Although i dont think this one is very different from the other concerts performed throughout august 1972.

The show is decent..Elvis concentrates on the music ..he isn`t very talkative..nice set list..

Ellvis wasn`t very talkative throughout the season....and he concentrated more on the music..fs?..well, it`s live and Elvis was a perfectionist these days... you cannot critisize this show and call the while season good..this show is typical for this season..solid with no surprises..but good set lists anway..

One of the reasons 1972 is my favorite concert year is because Elvis wasn't talkative. He gave the fans what they paid for, a solid hour of incredible singing. I'll take that any day over the 69 concert monologues, the rambling monologues and Karate demonstrations in 1974, or the smattering of incoherent speeches he gave throughout the later years when the medication was too strong.

Good point and it demonstrates how opinions can differ...and that´s good. Personally, I enjoy the shows with a middle thing ..not too much dialogue as Vegas summer 74.. but some jokes and dialogue as 1970. and 1975 is the right dosis...
