Variety Names Blue Christmas As Top X-mas Song

December 17, 2006 | Other
Variety has named "Blue Christmas" one of the top X-mas songs in the world. The song got second place in the Top 10, because of the "obvious melancholy in Elvis's voice, without the traditional sugar sweet sentimantality". The number one spot goes to The Pretenders with "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas", third place is for U2 and "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)".

Another reason for the Elvis Christmas Album to be released every year.......hopefully in a definitive form. With an extremely well thought out eye-catching cover! A 28 by 20 inch photo of 1956 Elvis printed on framed canvas caught my eye yesterday so I bought it. I'll not have a Blue Chrismas:-)

I dont put much merit in a list that has The Pretenders as number one and U2 as number 3! Ever hear of Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, Bobby Helms, Brenda Lee, etc etc? Who comprised this list, 80's punk rockers?
