The ultimate DVD collection celebrating the life of Elvis Presley returns to the marketplace this summer, boasting over 2 hours of remastered video and never-before-seen interviews with legendary artists such as Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins. The two-disc "Elvis: The Great Performances" features classic footage mined from TV shows and specials, films and home movies.
The DVD set is now available for pre-order on ShopElvis.com. "Elvis: The Great Performances" will be available everywhere on August 2, 2011.

An opportunity to buy "Unchained Melody" in remastered form? Yes please! I recall The Great Performances was released in multiple 1 hour versions, with different guest narrators, some years ago, and sold at an extortionate price. This, on the other hand, looks very promising. A great documentary!
We need an anthology like the beatles did in the 90's. With elvis still a household name its not too late.
and so the stuff we already have keeps coming. Who doesn't already have all this?
Just release the old three DVD Great Performances on Blu-Ray with the original cover. This cover looks terrible to me, like an cheap budget dvd release.
I agree with circleG and others. We need a Beatles type anthology set done correctly, not re-releases with inferior covers to the original release!
It's a nice idea but it'll never happen. They can re release cd's and dvd's over and over again and obviously make a profit. There's no way they will produce a set which has everything on meaning you never have to buy anything else. That would be commercial suicide. For me i'd like all the albums released during his life time to be available, couple of compilations, maybe a set dedicated to the sun years, all the movies and tv specials and the Anthology as mentioned on here. FTD can look after the collectors and that's it. Anything else is just a rehash of what's already available.
Unless someone is sitting on a goldmine of unseen live stuff from the 50's with interviews from 50's and 60's etc, an Anthology on Elvis will never happen.
Sadly i agree it'll never happen but the Beatles anthology was so well done. I'm sure there was nothing on there the avid fan did not have but for the casual fan like me it was fantastic. An anthology will not contain every thing ever made it will be restricted by programme duration ( the Beatles covered about 10 years, Elvis' would cover at least 22!). A chronological documentation of life and music with interviews from him and those who were there. The Great Performances is a great attempt but it could be hundreds of times better. I made my own 3 hour version by editing TGP together with This is Elvis, TTWII,EOT, movies for my own enjoyment and eventually gave out copies to family members who absolutely loved it.
Trust me done professionally it would be a winner.
This is in my opinion a re-re-relase of the two video's. and that was a new version of This is Elvis And you can't create mono into 5.1. If that's possible then i like to know how? You can only give it a suuround sound.And i like the two tin boxsets defintive collection a lot better. Not as good as the Beatles box anthology but a good job. This one is only for who missed the originals. But still a cheap cover. Why not the original video covers and also includeed the booklets. Only for collectors

Bought the DVD set, The sound is good, but the picture quality is not as good as original sets.
