TIME's Person Of The Century (or not ?)

We've been voting for the last few months, and not completely in vain it seems, Elvis tops the list for quite some time now. He even won the poll, but in all their wisdom the Time-editors decided to ignore their own poll. Of course it is understandable Time took Albert Einstein as person of the century, but why such a poll, when they ignore it? The reason Time choose Albert Einstein.

He was the iconic 20th century scientist, the bumbling professor with the German accent, a comic cliché in a thousand films. Instantly recognizable, like Charlie Chaplin's Little Tramp, Albert Einstein's shaggy haired visage was as familiar to ordinary people as to the matrons who fluttered about him in salons from Berlin to Hollywood.
