This is getting from bad to worse. Nothing but tat. This is definatley the last year for me!! In this issue you can pay at least, between £2 - £4 more for the new 30th anniversary commemorative dvd release, than anywhere else. On average, at least £5 more for Hot shots and cool clips vol 3 dvd. At least £5 more for Tupelo' own Elvis Presley.....etc etc. Everything is dearer than anywhere else, i don't get it. At least we get the opportunity to buy the Elvis 70s master boxset for unreal price of £72.00 a special edition tacky jukebox, a classic long sleeved official t-shirt, the style of which went out of fashion when Jesus was a lad. Come on Todd get your act together. On the good side there's NO great interviews with any of Elvis' associates etc. NO rare good quality photos, printed on good quality paper. Finally, the Elvis at the movies article got a bit boring about 12 editions back..For Godsake, who gives a damn. Come on Todd this is a joke. Have a look at other publication in the UK and Europe and take note.

yes i agree the dvds are a bit dearer , and you can get the new releases on preorder cheaper from amazon uk , which sorry todd i am going to. but im not going to abandon fanclub , i just dont always buy my dvds from there due to price difference, on a whole the mags ok , more colourfull than it used to be. how about some extras todd just like essential elvis magazine , they gave some fans loyalty cards to get extra special bits and money of souvenirs each mag. and how about elvis pic on fanclub card too

I've just recently re-joined but fear it may be the last time. I've been a member since 1974 and my last few renewals have just been through loyalty to Elvis. I can't believe how low the publication has sunk. I don't even bother to read it any more; I just flick through in case there's something word reading. Inevitably there isn't. Now it's basically no more than a catalogue of over-priced merchandise and holidays. Someone needs to take hold and get it back to how it used to be. If the official Fan Club can't get it right, then it's a very sad day in the Elvis world. They are playing to the lower end of the Elvis market.

I think the fan club mag has got to the stage of the old Elvis Monthly in its later editions, tired and searching desperately for something interesting to fill its pages.

Various people have hated me since I took over the fan club in 1967, and I don't give a stuff. That said I do care when our club is insulted in this way because the insults affect our members. The official Elvis Presley Fan Club magazine is not a self-praise clap-trap title. It is wholly written by our members, because it is a members' magazine. Our club is successful not because of me, but because of our members. And if our membrrs are not happy with the contents then it is up to them to submit their own features. If we are that bad why do we have ten times more subscribers than our nearest rival? If we are that bad why are we taking thirteen hundred fans to Memphis, whilst our nearest rival isn't taking thirteen. If we are that bad how come our recent theatre tour attracted a combined audience of 30,300 when an event staged by our nearest rival attracted a modest 300. Some of our items might be a lttle more expensive than our competitors (though some are not) and the majority of the titles we stock and sell are not even offered by our rivals. And we are not going to compete with those who try to undermine our credibility by selling products at cost, because there is a difference with what we do. Our profits are used to promote Elvis Presley in the UK with financial support in radio programmes, TV and video production, and huge sums in talent development. Our success is due to the loyal support of Elvis and our members. Just watch the charts over the next few months. Elvis' success will be due to our members' support, not due to those organisations who are self obsessed. Wake up and smell the coffee!

How nasty. I became a member of this club in 1960 and purchased every issue of Elvis Monthly until they stopped publishing it. I loved it. I will get this and enjoy it. Todd you have worked so hard for all of these years and have done a fabulous job in spite of the sour grapes flung at you.

Well said Todd, there are always people mocking, you can't please them all. Believe me, I know it first hand! Just keep doing what you do, the numbers you named says it all!

I very muched liked the USA counterpart Elvis Today. Great quality mag. Whatever happened to that?
fordy wrote on July 17, 2007
Come on Todd. This is a word to the wise, rather than having a dig at you. If you haven't noticed, we are the fans who buy your mag. We are making these comments with the evidence in front of our eyes. You need to look around and see what really is going on. The mag is poor mate, there's no hiding the fact. It's time for a much needed change. You should also be careful of the carefree comments you have made. You might find you make statements that could easily backfire on you, or you may get a reply that really wouldn't do you any favours at all. Good luck for the future.

I used to get the Monthly from around 1962 until the end - likewise the Fan Club mag from '67, but ditched it in the mid 80's. I did renew a few years back to see if things had changed, but they hadn't, so ditched it again after a year. I have a quick glance at a friend's copy every so often, and it has become the 2007 version of the latter years of the Elvis monthly. Anyone can manipulate numbers Todd to look impressive, and okay, each to his own. But we're talking about magazines here, not shows etc and tie ins with BMG. If you want good imformative reviews and interviews regarding Elvis, save your subs and look elsewhere.
