The King Of Western Bop

September 22, 2005 | Music
The budget SUN release "The King Of Western Bop" has now been remastered and collected on vinyl by Simply Vinyl. This double LP represents the first steps into the recording studio of Popular Music’s biggest ever icon. The 27 tracks include early takes in progress and studio conversations between Elvis and his producers, these are the tracks that took him to the verge of being the greatest Rock 'n' Roll icon in the world. These songs document the process of the Hillbilly Cat from Memphis, the king of western bop, becoming simply The King and the music contained here documents the seed-sowing of what we now know as Rock and Roll.

I find the many CD releases of this material boring, but vinyl releases are scarce enough now to make them more interesting. I like the design of the cover. The source of the material looks to be properly dated, unlike a recent DVD/CD release in the UK which states that the usual Hayride/Eagle's Hall recordings are "High School recordings". I would like to meet the person that credited them as such!
