The Final Days DVD Cover Pt. 2

November 07, 2004 | Video
Here we have another version of the cover art of the bootleg DVD "The Final Days" This disc features 3 shows, including some of the June tour e.a. Indianapolis. Also featured on this DVD are the Omaha, NE June 19th '77 show, the Rapid City, June 21st '77 and the "Official CBS Special" (aired after Elvis' death).

The quality is at least just as good as it was released on the import video tapes. The CBS-concert is bad according to postings on several messageboards.

Elvis' last days with a front and back cover of his Aloha show ?!? How stupid is that. Pathetic.

You're right Jim. Bootleggers obviously want to sell, and a good image of Elvis helps. A recent bootleg on "The CBS Special"' featured an image of Elvis from "That's The Way It Was".

I appreciate what you are saying but they are trying to sell the product. A good looking Elvis on the cover promotes the product far better than the images of Elvis at that time would, especially to the non hardcore fan. It's commercial sense. However, whatever the cover, the content is going to be poor. Elvis looked awful and was clearly washed up at this point in his life and no amount of packaging will cover that up. Whilst there are several good performances contained in these shows, overall Elvis is a very, very long way from his best, even though he is trying harder, and seems more focussed (amazing given the obvious influence of medication throughout these shows) than he did in Aloha. He also seems to be in good humour. This is not the best way to remember Elvis, but it is part of his history and so we must accept what he became. Such a shame.

I bought this DVD because there is some material I haven`t seen. It´s worth it and I like it. It´s the first time for me to see the introductions and how Elvis handles and acts. When you look how Elvis looks it´s sad, but this DVD shows a few good performances.

I've seen this DVD. The quality of the Rapid City and Omaha shows is bad - just like the versions that circulate on VCD's. The special itself - "Elvis in concert" - is far better. The second special has a bad picture quality, too - but it's a time document! You can see rare statements from the day the king was buried - there are interviews with Chuck Berry, Pat Boone and many others included. The menus of this DVD are well done - so, all in all, it's not a bad DVD.
