A very useful book if you are going to visit the places. I took copies of the maps on my last trip to Memphis, Hollywood, Hawaii which helped me to appreciate the Elvis connections. Thoroughly recommended.

I have this book and would recommend it, its critical and sympathetic, Michael Grey is a music expert and there are great chapters with titles like Never Ending Demand, A Lonely Life, Solitary Death of a Public Idol, so its very respectful with none of the tabloid sensationalism or gushing adoration. He does describe The Man as "Outrageously Gifted" and the photos and maps are great, so its a very original and authentic book.
