Chrome Dreams will release The Complete 62 Sessions on July 15, 2013.
Reactions
62 sessions? C'mon there were never any sessions then!!..
Tracey Jayne is right ! Chrome Dreams is a fine label and the UK people behind it know their job. I have their 'Sun Recordings' and though nothing can beat the 'A Boy From Tupelo' ( it had to be the best considering it's price {agreed, the book had to be paid for too}) the Chrome Dreams release can, imho, without any doubt, bear the comparison with CDs having the Sun Recordings as subject ( I have them all, ABFT included) like, per example,Elvis Scotty And Bill (Xtra) Elvis At Sun ( Sony/Bmg), Sunrise (Bmg) and The Sun Sessions (RCA). Real good booklet too. Chrome Dreams : NOT a label to make a quick buck, but 'taken good care of' releases. They deserve our support ! Always El.
Thanks Tracey Jayne, I agree does not sound like one of the normal let's get rich without much effort rubbish.
Gores, Each volume so far offers a 2 cd set,a 16 page booklet with lots of info and pics oh yes all volumes are crammed with master/alternate takes, radio spots etc for the respective years,so not your usual PD slap and tickle release. Yes it has stuff ever fan in the world has got but as stated before a good concept compared to the zillion other PD releases so have to give credit to Crome Dreams for the work gone into these and keeping the price well below the £10 mark here in the UK .I suspect it's a case as usual here of comments made but not actually heard or seen this volumes? .
Let's be frank. It's always been about money, RCA (& BMG, Sony etc), Hill & Range, Colonel, Hollywood, Elvis Presley Enterprices, Pricsilla, The Elvis Mafia, even Elvis himself (most of the times). Making money... How else can you explain some of the movies and soundrack recordings that came with them? If we like the 'product' we buy it, if not we don't. At least Elvis music etc are the products we all want to buy and he deserved the money and fame he got. All others were (and still are) just looking for opportunities to get a piece of the cake. Often they make good effort and something worthy is up for sale. Sometimes it is just 'crap'... This one doesn't seem like a good effort...
The saying goes, you cant judge a book by its cover. I wonder if it applies to CDs as well.
Actually the concept is not bad and all previous volumes so far offer value for money........shame the cover art let's it down?
I expect someone here can give a good reason other than money, why these compilations are produced, but personally I think it cheapens the whole Elvis experience.
1962 with a 1950s photo cover.
I want the complete 1978 sessions
Hey, Jimmy, I start working on it immediately. Great idea. I also need a quick buck (smile)
wow - can't wait for '63 sessions !
How about the '62 concert tour that was cancelled ? ;-)
Somebody out to make a quick buck now that the 50 year copyright is over.As sunrecords56 says, 62 recordings with a 57 photo. I don't think a lot of thought & care has been taken over this release. I think I'll give this cheap rubbish a miss.
62 sessions with 1957 cover photo what else is not a good idea.?
And, why is this necessary? The answer someone needs to make a buck.
