Sonny Going Down Down Under?

May 07, 2005 | People
With the New Zealand leg of the Sonny West tour already cancelled, it appears the Aussie leg is in for a rocky ride. Word just in is that slow ticket sales have seen this Sunday's show at the Smithfield RSL cancelled, for the same reason a question mark hangs over other announced dates, and plans for a Canberra show are now highly unlikely. A lack of promotion is being blamed - apparently there was no marketing budget allocated by the promoter who was relying on each venue promoting the show.

Who cares ? Another "make a living form the King tour" from somebody who didn't care that much in 1976.

The moochers who claimed to be EP's friends are still lining up to make a buck off his name any way they can. The "Sonny West Tour" - who cares.

An update on the Sonny Tour, the first two Sydney shows failed to attract attendance, with only a dozen people attending. At this stage only 30 people will be attending the tours last show in Sydney. This is due to a lack of promotion by promoters, who thought that simply telling Elvis Fan Clubs a couple of weeks prior to arrival the Elvis Clubs would then be hell bent on getting them a crowd. They failed to offer any assistance in this means, once again proving it was an all give affair from the Elvis Clubs whilst they the promoters once again reaped all the benifits. HA HA it did not work and these people will never learn, the reaction of Australian Fans to Sonny, should have been tested prior to the tour. He and they have got what they deserve. They should have realised the reaction for his part in the writing of 'Elvis what Happened'.

I'd just like to say I wouldn't spit on Sonny West if he was on fire. Seems the 30 pieces of silver have run out, so since he has no discernable talent other than tales of his ex-relationship with Elvis, he's having to use that (again) to try and re-fill his bank balance. Hope he falls flat on his face.

For those people who missed out on seeing Sonny, you missed a very good show. Sonny is one of the good guys, he doesn't need to get up on a stage and have people ask questions about 'the book', but he does, and does not deserve the remarks made about him on this forum. He did help write a book, that we are all sorry that was written, but the fact remains that he and the others co-authored a book that told the truth about Elvis' habits, you can believe what you like, and say what you like, but I would stand with Sonny and his wife Judy any day before any of the others who haven't got the guts to do anything that may upset the estate.
