Signed Elvis LP Set To Pull In Crowds At Charity Auction

May 01, 2007 | Other
Elvis Presley is set to take centre stage at Sheffield Wednesday Football Club on 17th May to raise funds for a local community project.

The charity auction, in which a LP signed by Elvis is expected to draw in the crowds, will help raise funds for The Burton Street Foundation. The Foundation, based in the former Burton Street School buildings in Hillsborough, is used by around 2000 members of the community each week and offers a number of services including job search facilities, sports and fitness, childcare and life changing support to some of the most vulnerable people in the community including adults and young people with learning difficulties and physical disabilities.

The foundation is completely funded by grants, donations and local fundraising and the forth-coming charity auction hopes to raise much needed funds with lots ranging from a signed Kylie Minogue Gold Disc, signed football shirts from the winning 1966 England football team and SWFC and other items donated by local businesses and members of the community.

Rony Robinson of BBC radio Sheffield will be acting as auctioneer for the evening and anyone who would like further information on the event or about the foundation can get in touch with Burton Street on 0114 233 2908.

Anyone wishing to register a bid prior to the auction or to register for telephone bidding on the evening can do so by emailing fundraising@burtonstreet.org.uk

According to other articles, this LP is an original from 1959. So lets hope it earns a few pounds for that worthy cause.
