Shreveport '75

Good !!! Period.

We are fortunate that recordings from so many shows on this tour have survived and been made available to us on official and unofficial releases. I like the cover, it captures that period in time perfectly.

For your information: previously released on cdr: Elvis recorded live on stage in Shreveport.

That sure is a nice cover! Plus, you can't go wrong with a summer '75 show when he was rockin'.

Well said, Tony C. I really like the photo in the press release. That one would've made an outstanding cover. Who knows, maybe that's the picture on the flip side? Anyway, the Summer of 75 proves that The King didn't die the day after the "Aloha" show.

This isn't a new show for collectors 'cause it was released by "VB Records" two years ago in "FUN TIME AT THE COLISEUM" (silver disc).

Hello, I think 4 of these recordings were released officially on the last disc of the 'Silver' box set back in 1980. In Ernst's 'Complete Recording Sessions' book, he implies that only mixing console sources exist for the May and June 1975 tours (which I think is what we todaycall soundboard recordings). Elvis looks terrific on the cover but musically this isn't my favourite era.

VB Records is cd-r,....NO silver disc..debut on shiny ..here...

Jamie is correct, the last part of this show from "Funny How Time Slips Away" onwards was used for the composite show on the silver box set. A mixing console and a soundboard are the same thing, soundboard is a term used in America whereas in the UK we have always known it as the mixing desk or mixing console.

Same tape (or even same files) as the well-known CDr?

No...funtime is not a silver disc. All releases from VB Records are cdr.

My copy of 'Fun Time...' is a purple disc and the label is yellow.

Tony, according to the site "Elvis In Concert" the songs used for the "Silver" box set are from June 6, Dallas TX. Don't know who's right or wrong now. ? Always El.

Hi Benny, I think the last sides of vinyl on the 1980 'Silver' box set were originally billed by RCA as being live recordings from Dallas, Texas, in 1975. And if memory serves, they subsequently re-released them as a double vinyl LP 'Live In Dallas'. However, it has emerged subsequently that the so-called Dallas 1975 concert was composited from soundboard recordings from various arenas on the May-June 1975 tour itinerary. The other venues included Shreveport. The Dallas billing was just another example of RCA administering Elvis's body of work sloppily.

To be fair to RCA, when first released in 1980, they did not specify whether the concert was one show or edited from several sources, they just said it was recorded on tour in 1975. It was when the recording was released on it's own in certain territories that the "Live In Dallas" title was used. As far as Dallas goes, the bulk of the recording does originate from that city. Presumably the original tape was either incomplete or damaged as the 2001 theme was added from the Memphis show and "See See Rider" and "I Got a Woman/Amen" were added from Murfreesboro. "T.R.O.U.B.L.E" was edited in from Houston, "Why Me, Lord?" from Jackson and the rest of the concert from "Funny How Time Slips Away" onwards is from this forthcoming Shreveport show. In 1980, the concept of having good quality recordings available other than those recorded by RCA was new to us and very exciting. We had already been treated to "America" and "Softly, As I Leave You" but they were just the tip of the iceberg.

The Elvis in Concert site justs copies the details from the Elvis Sessions 3 book with regard to this concert. Keith Flynn's site has a more detailed and updated breakdown of the origin of the recordings, it is a site I refer to constantly because it is kept very up to date. It is Keith that states that the ending of the concert comes from Shreveport.
