Shaking Up The Great Lakes

July 24, 2006 | Music
The third release on the Fort Baxter Classic Series will be "Shaking Up The Great Lakes". This CD will feature the April 24th, 1977 Ann Arbor, MI show which originally has been released on the "A Profile - The King On Stage vol.1".

Synopsis:

Since the soundboard recording is incomplete the CD will also contain the performance recorded two days later in Kalamazoo, MI. Both soundboard recordings had some songs edited out when originally released and will now for the first time be presented in their complete form. These two concerts certainly make a nice double features as both contain several songs done only once, songs like; "Trying To Get To You", "Jailhouse Rock", "Teddy Bear / Don't Be Cruel", "Help Me", "Little Sister", "Polk Salad Annie", "Unchained Melody", "Little Darlin'", "Big Boss Man", "Heartbreak Hotel", "And I Love You So", "Blue Suede Shoes" and "Hurt".

The material is presented in its best-ever sound quality to date with a 12 pages colour booklet, relevant text and photographs. This is scheduled for release in September. Definitely a very interesting CD to those who missed them out back then, and further more since it will be in better sound quality. The total running time will be 74:59.

This looks like it will be an interesting release, grouping the two soundboard recordings together and including some unreleased material. I'm sure the packaging will be produced to a high standard as well.

A nice idea for "'new"' elvisfans, but i have kalamazoo for years now and ann arbor just since last week i refuse to buy these cd's double times, i think it's too much at the moment with all these re releases! bring something new! there are so many shows to release, for instance elvis on tour april 1976, nothing released yet from this tour! (don't understand me wrong, these two concerts are good, certainly for 77 concerts) What do other fans think about all these re releases lately? Some reactions please!! (i know it's july and very hot, but come on!)

I went to both these concerts and i cant waite to find this C.D. even though Elvis was very sick at both the shows he still was the King, I hope all Elvis fans relly listen to the way the songs were sung, as you will be able to tell how hard it had become for him to sing. All i can say is enjoy because less then four months later and he was gone.

This is great! I'll buy this one for sure. If it is as good as Fort Baxter's previous releases, it will be another gem in my collection.
