Setting The Season

March 04, 2010 | Music

SR Records will soon release a 2CD set in a longbox zooming in on Elvis' fourth Vegas season. The CD will contain the February 19 MS and February 22 MS.

The Press-release

Soon available, Setting the Season (SR Records) with focus on Elvis’ live performances in Las Vegas between February 19 and February 21, 1971. This deluxe long digipack , double CD pack is the first SR release dedicated onto Vegas' fourth season.
In spite of the fact that Elvis is getting bored of Las Vegas, he is still able to the end the season by giving life to some terrific shows. Here they are presented in great audio quality , the CD 1 with the complete show from February 19 midnight show and the CD 2 with the unreleased February 22 midnight show taken from an early generation copy of the original master tape, as recorded by a member of the audience. All tracks were digitally restored for your best possible listening pleasure; the sound quality is incredibly good considering the early Vegas Season. The shows are linked from the highlight of February 21 midnight show.
We are proud to give life to a unique view with almost 160 minutes of great music with Elvis at his best for that season. As a first time for this label, the double CD will come in a deluxe LONG six panel DIGIPACK, containing a collection of live RARE photographs of the Vegas February 1971 season.

19.2.71 we already had back in 2005 on There Goes My Everything...the title track is incomplete btw..sound is dull with hiss 21.2.71 MS we had years ago on Las Vegas Fever Vol.1 with the tape running much too slow.. 22.2.71 MS is taken from an average at best sounding AR with 4 songs being incomplete.. All in all nothing for your listening pleasure...with the show from February 19th being one of the best of this Vergas season with many surpises..

Two audince recordings at once from a now well soundboard-documented season? No thanks.... I would rather see box-sets coming from FTD. What about a 4CD box from FTD covering a certain periods where they "take back" some very known bootlegs and add something unreleased? *Box 1 (1969-70). CD1: Aug. 3, '69, CD2&3: LV opening+closing Jan/Febr. '70, CD4: Houston Astrodome Febr. 27, '70 *Box 2 (1970-71). CD1: Tour, Sept. '70, CD2: LV, Febr. '71, CD3: Lake Tahoe, May '71, CD4: Nov. 10 '71. *Box 3 (1972). CD1: LV opening Jan. 26 '72,CD2-4: On Tour concerts *Box 4 (1973-74). CD1: June-July 1973, CD2: Houston Astrodome March '74, CD3: Memphis March 18 '74, CD4: Lake Tahoe May '74. *Box 5 (1975-76). CD1: Memphis June 10 '75, CD2: July '75, CD3: LV Aug. '75, CD4: March. '76. *Box 6 (1976-77). CD1: LV Dec. '76, CD2: Dec. 27-31 tour '76, CD3: April '77, CD 4: May/June '77.

Never say never;) But you're right regarding March 18. It was not in Memphis, but a "mindblowing" concert nevertheless¨:)

One of the finest and best Elvis Presley 74 concerts: Guarenteed to blow your mind! Long live luxor, we miss you.

Why would we miss Luxor when we have the SR label?:) The true kings of the Second Rate products:)

OurKing4life: the sound quality of these INCOMPLETE audience recordings is bad. As bad as on the other SR releases (or even worse). There are fans who can enjoy such bad quality recordings. Personally i can't. There were 2 or 3 O.K. releases from this label, but all the others were bad sounding recordings in ugly digipack. They are not worth $25 (€18) in my opinion.

It's price is €18 - €25 (+ postage),depends on dealer. Very expensive garbage.
