Last Sunday Edward Anhalt, who wrote the screenplay for Girls! Girls! Girls! together with Allan Weiss, died of cancer. He was 86 years old. Anhalt won Academy Awards for 1964's "Becket'' and 1950's "Panic in the Streets.'' He was nominated for "The Sniper'' in 1952, which he co-wrote with Edna Anhalt, the first of his five wives. He also wrote the 1972 Robert Redford movie "Jeremiah Johnson'' with "Apocalypse Now'' co-writer John Milius.
