Sand Castles

FIESA is a mega exhibition of sand sculptures held in Portugal in Pêra (Algarve) every year. Each new edition is dedicated to a different theme. Idols are the theme of this year, a tribute to various characters admired and praised by our society. Carved in sand visitors will find icons of sports, from the movies, from music, fashion, politics and religion. This year visitors can find an Elvis sand sculpture in the exhibition which will be open until October 25th.

Excellent artwork, dedication and temporary, probably disappear soon thanks to the rolling sea, which reminds me of a much maligned period of Elvis' career, mid to late sixties movies and soundtracks. We know at the time Elvis was ahead of The Beatles in his spiritual quest. Who ever wrote songs like "A house that has everything, obviously knew where Elvis was at and is reflected in the Zen like thought in the lyrics, corny and all as ya'll hard rockers might think. Just a thought for today but lots of his lesser liked songs contain that spirituality that Elvis endorsed.
