QuickPoll - Updated

July 10, 2007 | Other
While we thought EPE reached a new depth on the merchandising front with the "Elvis" Karaoke set, still 19 percent of the 292 voters had a different opinion. It makes you wonder ...

For our new poll we go one step further (no bashing intended). Until now you could walk up to Elvis' grave (early) in the morning to pay your respects for free. But recently EPE added a 24/7 webcam to the pay section of their Elvis Insiders club website; they are now "selling Elvis' grave". Is this acceptable, especially for the fans who can't go to Memphis themselves? Other EPE webcams are free.

So our QuickPoll reads: The pay webcam aimed on Elvis' grave is disrespectful for both Elvis and his fans.

Update July 10, 2007:

EPE replied to a question from the Elvis Express on the new meditation cam. "At this time the meditation garden camera is only available to paid up insiders members but the whole world will be able to view the camera on the day and night of the vigil". So all's well that ends well" and we close this poll.

Our new poll is more simple, thanks to the release of the new July Follow That Dream releases: "The classic album edition of "Raised On Rock" is a great package".

jesus, looking at EPE's (recent) 'taste' when it comes to merchandising* ..... what is NOT disrespectful!? * rubber duck, singing head, porcelain-figurines just as tasteless as ugly etc.

Jesus Christ; how about a new poll ElvisNews - where you set up a poll about merchandieses that you would want to sell, and we'll give our opinion about whether we think it's tasteless or not --- so, main point it; people's opinion are different! I don't get this constant EPE bashing - for those willing to pay out a few dollars for this webcam and more is a heck of a lot cheaper than an airplane ride to Memphis, especially for those not in the US. Instead of complaining everytime, that goes for all Elvis fans, how about some original ideas about how to increase Elvis' "status" in the world

I've already given my opinion on this elsewhere on this site. But i'll say it again. You cant see the Graves not unless you've got bloody fantastic eyesight. The reason the web cam has been put there is for people to see the flowers when they arrive for EW.Obviously someone here is a member of the Elvis Insiders otherwise how did the photo get here? EPE can't do right for doing wrong people moan when they don't do something and moan when they do.Some people really need to get a life.

One more thing if elvisnews thinks its disrespectful why the hell have they got a picture of it on their webste? and pressing related link gives a live view. They need to worry about their own site before they start bashing someone elses.

About the karaoke poll result. I think the message really is: stop being so biased and give us Elvis news, not strictly personal opinions about impersonators, karaoke or something else. I think the website is titled Elvis News

when a cam uses this angle, i think it's okay. But paying for this section to me seems rather stupid. The next step will be planting cameras inside the house, plenty of variety.

you're not paying for this you pay to be a member of the insiders. the camera is just part of it.But elvisnews is very anti epe.and they don't know what thy're talking about. When thy post the link to the webcam it just proves my point.

Of course it's disrespectful! But havent you heard? EPE is no longer about Elvis, his legacy & the fans. It's about merchandising.

The webcam for the Meditation Gardens was put up at the request of Elvis fans who will not be able to attend the vigil this year. They would like to participate via the internet. I don't see a problem with this at all...as it does not show the gravesites themselves. If it did, I would have a problem. I AM NOT pro-EPE...but in this case..they are trying to do something for the fans, FOR ONCE...

People who use the Lord's name in vain are dumb. This comment is off the subject.

It is not that big of a deal. It's not disrespectful. I am more insulted that Elvis did not care enough about himself to get is act together. He should not even be there.

Soon, we shall pay to go to www.elvis-presley.com

I don't have a problem with it. It's as close to the Meditation Garden as I will get this year. Glad to pay the price.

I don't answer to the poll, because it links two options together, and I have two different feelings. I don't think it's disrespectful for Elvis, because the camera is quite far and because of the angle of view. Honestly, I don't see where the disrespect, if any, is. But it's (for me at last) disrespectful for the fans to ask them to pay AGAIN for something that is part of our History. I understand people thinking otherwise (not an usual attitude for me;-))). Anyway, for me, it's not a big deal.

It's okay. You wouldn't be able to see the flowers from this angle either. There is definately too much disrespect for Elvis Presley, even on this site. Elvis sadly became a commodity when he passed away. Some of the merchandise is awful. Would love to know who makes these decisions. I saw toy frogs in jumpsuits recently and in Tupelo, there was a dog contest...whose dog looked the most like Elvis. Horrible.

Hey "efan4ever", what do you mean when you say "He shouldn't even be there"? Are you saying he shouldn't be buried there or he shouldn't have died so soon yet? Either way, I don't think Elvis set out to exit this world so soon or that he intended to be buried in his own back yard. It's obvious as to why he was buried in his own back yard and I'm not talking about for the sake of EPE making money buy opening up Graceland to the public when they did, I'm talking about for safety reasons. There are dead celebrity's graves that get broke into all the time..and I really don't think any of us on this web site would have wanted that happening to our man's grave...I know I wouldn't.

efan4ever is right he dont belong dead. he aint at peace i dont think either unfortuantely. how can a man rest when theres 1000's walking above him , and you have people screwing with your name and music by doing bad things with it. i know he is touched though before he died he didnt think anyone would remeber him cuz he said he didnt do a song or a movie that would give anyone a lasting memory. but his legend will live on. i just wish people would respect our king and do right by his music do right by the fans as he always did -meaning give them what they want, excite them, please them make them happy. didnt elvis say that in an interview at the begining of the lost performance video?

Too bad it's about making money AGAIN! However i see nothing wrong with it otherwise.

I think there´s to many leading questions with polls on this site, why not just make it a question, without giving leads like "Do you really like this crap yes or no".

We believe that every single Elvis fan visiting Graceland on the vigil should be rewarded and given a free copy of (low or bad selling CDs)... As there are many bad releases like Raised on Rock and the Camden Budget albums on CD... Sony and Scott should work out a new and more successful marketing strategy for FTD and general public releases in 2007/08/09. Many Elvis fans on this forum have voiced their dissatisfaction about the way releases are being handled so far. Please share news with us re. replacing or upgrading (further extending) the CDs In Person (adding from Gold Collectors Vegas69) and On Stage (adding from Gold Coll Vegas 1970) as well as Elvis from Memphis (adding Elvis back in M'phis) and thus eliminate the old CD versions that carry only 18 or 20 songs....and selling the new versions at a formidable profit again and again. Since Sony owns the rights on those, they won't need to pay extra royalties...Only Taking Care of B and Fans... BMG should also bring out a new FTD Double CD with DVD containing the Patch it UP/It's only love studio session outtakes (without the country songs) and put the Vegas Show filmed by MGM for TTWII and rehearsals on DVD to be sold together with the CDs....Also need for a new TTWII CD with only "live versions" of songs and rehearsals like Such a night, Fool such as I; (already available on Gold Collectors third disc) and sell it to the general public with extended disc on FTD for fans. Also, when can we expect FTD releases of GuitarMan, PromLand and BurningL sessions & outtakes, movie outtakes of GGGirls, complete sessions & outtakes of King Creole, BH and GIB ? Thanks for informing the fans Scott. We'd dig that news before August in M'phis !!
