Priscilla And Lisa To Greet Prime Minister And President

Earlier today in an interview with the Associated Press, Elvis Presley Enterprises CEO Jack Soden confirmed that when Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi of Japan and President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush visit Graceland on June 30th, Priscilla Presley and Lisa Marie Presley will be there to welcome them. The AP story is expected to hit the wire as early as tonight.

Perhaps I'm feeling a bit nasty, but a divorced wife of 33 years and who recently sold out to a corporation doesn't make me jump for joy at their name anymore.

I agree with Pjones about a divorced woman who has made her millions off of her ex husband, the name nor the woman is any fav of mine and I do not listen or read anything about the woman nor can I stand to even see her picture. As for Bush going to Graceland, can you imagine how Elvis would have been during this visit with the pres and a pm from Japan! And to think he thought he would not be remembered........

Maybe I am getting old and cynical but what a great shame the former President's of the USA did not acknowledge Elvis' presence while he was alive. It makes me sick that now he is gone all of a sudden World leaders are paying homage to him. Where were they when he was alive .

It is great news that Priscilla and Lisa Marie will be showing the President and the Japanese Prime Minister Elvis' Graceland, and why should they not - after all it was their former home too. "Serpico" seems to forget that Richard Nixon met up with Elvis, as too did Jimmy Carter, and both Reagan and Clinton have said good things about Elvis. I know that Princess Anne has said that she will one day visit Graceland, and it was Princess Margaret's wish also to see Elvis' home. And lets not forget that our Queen Elizabeth II invited Elvis to appear at a Royal Variety Performance, and Prince Phillip sent Lord Archer to Vegas to see if Elvis might perform in the UK for one of his charities. As for Tony Blair - he has no affinity to Elvis Presley. I hope it is a wonderful day for Mr Koizumi - I bet the Japanese fans are thrilled!!!

I've spent alot of time thinking about this subject today. It really doesn't matter who visits Graceland, just as long as Elvis Presley is never forgotten! Everyone spends so much time moaning and groaning, that we forget about what the great man did for us. Even now after all these years he can still send a shiver down my spine just from his voice alone. Sorry Send To Todd, but I can't imagine Elvis at The Royal Variety Performance, starring alongside people like Paul Daniels etc. Can you?

Surely the massive amount of publicity generated by the President Bush and Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi visit to Elvis Presley's beloved Graceland is to be welcomed by all Elvis fans. Let's hope Tupelo will benifit from the historic event. Elvis fans everywhere should link Elvis's birthplace in comments on message boards so the media can see what a Golden opportunity it would be to really maximise the story. Even here in Irelandtoo.

With reference to Todd stating former Presidents have said good things about Elvis, Let it be known not one of them acknowledged how great the man was while they were in office. Yes Bill Clinton loved Elvis but he was not President while Elvis was alive. Carter said greatthings about Elvis only after Elvis died. The only reason Nixon met Elvis at the White House was because Elvis forced him to see him. Again I repeat it is a disgrace that former President's did not say to the King how great he contributed to American culture while he was alive. Now Bush trying to get some voter points is going to Graceland. Too little too late!

Serpico, do all those things really matter now? Elvis has been dead along time. I don't think there's a person on this planet who doesn't acknowledge what a great man he was. Elvis will go down in history like Beethoven and Mozart, so over the years many a great person and not so great a person will visit Graceland. Maybe even me one day!

I can't see everyone's problem. Fantastic that the President acknowledges Graceland and Elvis and the history that ties them together; don't get me wrong I am not particularly a fan of GW, but we all know the thrill that he and PM Koizumi will get when they go through those gates and politics will vanish for a short while as they both wish they could ever go down in history as Elvis and still be so loved 29 years after their death! No chance! But who am I to deny them that wonderful feeling. I know they will enjoy it and why not Lisa (particularly) to welcome them. I know Priscilla is not the most loved by some, but she has done some great things for us fans too! Worth remembering too!
