Paul McCartney Does Elvis Presley

July 05, 2000 | People
Sir Paul McCartney, who recently returned to his rock 'n' roll roots for his last album, is now poised to work with Elvis Presley's backing musicians. The project has been launched for a forthcoming film about Sam Phillip's legendary Sun Studios, where Elvis made his first recordings, and the record label it spawned. Sir Paul will record a version of Presley's first hit, 'That's Alright Mama', for the movie, which is due out early next year.

The song will be produced by music industry legend Ahmet Ertegun, who has been a major influence on artists as varied as Aretha Franklin, The Rolling Stones, Bobby Darin and Led Zepplin.

Ed. We mentioned the recording of this song before, and then it was supposed to be for the release of the next "All The King's Men" from Scotty Moore (and DJ Fontana).
