On Tour - The Rehearsals Released

December 22, 2004 | Music
The latest FTD outing "On Tour The Rehearsals" is out. The first reactions from the FECC message board:

The overall sound is, as you'd guess, very much like "6363 Sunset" but to me the sound is superior on this new release. Fresh and upfront on the up-tempo tracks.

"Young And Beautiful" is, as Ernst put it "Charming" anybody expecting for it to live up to the '50's master, as I was, will be (slightly) disappointed. But other reactions that reached us said "Young And Beautiful is f... great and charmy! He sings you're so young and I'm so
beautiful...".

"Proud Mary" opens the disc just rocks! Ron is having a workout and a superb version of "Help Me Make It Through The Night"

"El Paso" is a major disapointment, doesn't really deserve its own track number.

"Never Been To Spain" is complete and given a serious treatment. Actually, every track is pretty solid with very minimal clowning around.

My copy came in the post today. IT's a great release and easily one of the best FTD's.The sound is ok for a rehearsal if a little 'thin' i.e. missing the full orchestration, but it's still a great CD. The faster tunes really rock and "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" is very nice, but not perfect, the tempo is a little slow and the backing vocals are too upfront. Ronnie Tutts Drumming is superb throughout. Great Stuff.

This is right up their with the best FTD's to date. Its a fantastic collection of great Presley rehearsals in far superior sound to the 6363 collection. The songs Young & Beautiful, For The Good Times, 1st Time Ever I Saw Your Face and Help Me Make It Through the Night are delicious and wow AT LAST a stunningly clear complete Johnny B. Goode after all those years of On Tour Soundtrack dubbs. Thank you Ernst Christmas Day this year is 23rd December cus' nothings gonna compare to the thrill of hearing this today!!

only just heard it from a mate of mine..far better than the 6363 sunset released in 2001..nothing negative to say, except theycan and should have released more outtakes from 1972 on tour rehearsals.otherwise a very strong release from ftd!-keep up the good work.

i just put in my order for on tour rehearsals and i'm sure it's gonna be great to listen to. but why cant bmg get busy on some more shows from this tour because releases are only coming out as bootlegs like the greensboro and hampton roads shows. they release movie cd's, vegas, and shows from many other tours but are stuck in mud on this tour and they have so much material that's available for cd's as well as video for a great dvd package. please no more delays!
