October FTD Release - Summer Festival

June 23, 2005 | Music
The regular quarterly FTD release for October 2005 is a Vegas concert "soundboard" recording from August 1972, with bonus songs. It is tentatively titled "Summer Festival". The date is not for sure yet, but it will be an unreleased show from this Vegas season.

Also coming in October are two more releases in FTD's Classic Albums program, which reissues Elvis albums that are no longer part of RCA Records' mainstream Elvis catalog. FTD is considering several different options, but it looks like these reissues will be one movie soundtrack album and one studio album. These reissues feature original album cover art and great bonus material not part of the original release.

This sounds like an interesting release. Elvis performed some very good shows that season, with EPFC members in the audience at some of them.

This also sounds 'GOOD' providing its an unreleased show and additional 'bonus songs' that are 'rare' also additional soundtracks and old albums are welcome too provising too much duplication doesn't occour. Certainly the 7 inch format is always welcome

We've had 2 shows from this season on bootleg CD's; August 11th dinner and midnight shows, which were both very good performances, but I have faith that FTD will steer clear of these 2 shows to avoid duplication. Nice of them to tell us about this so soon. As to the other 2 re-issues, my guess is that these will be "Clambake" and "Raised on rock"

I have my doubts here. Elvis was mentally not in a very good state in August 1972, because he had troubles with Priscilla. And of course this is a Las Vegas show in 1972 were Elvis allready was very bored to do another show in this place. But I will buy this one anyway because I will support the FTD label and it's one for my collection anyway. But I am affraid to hear a bored Elvis here with no highlights in the show.

First there was the first copy of the elvis is back cd taken from the lp. Then there was the cd from the 90`s series, then the complete 60`s masters, then the FTD version. why, why? there so much material also in the soundboards. I have already 4 soundboards of the august 72. WHY! why not a soundboards of 1973,1971..1977? The FTD becomes commercial. It`s not listen to the fans what they really likes. The Elvis fan was not waiting for tickle me, the king made 33 movies Clamebake/ Speedway/ king creole, etc. Why not those soundtracks? I don`t buy this cd just like el is back the texas book/cd`s, tickle me.

Peter, remember that we allready had soundboards from 1971 and 1973. And remember that most of the soundboards from 1971 don't have a good sound quality. What suprises me is that the FTD label still hasn't released a Live show from the 1972 On Tour.(April 1972) From 1977 we have the FTD CD Spring Tours and that was a good one I think. I agree with you that another soundboard from a 1977 show would be welcome. A soundboard from his latest June 1977 tour would be nice. It also surprises me that there are no soundboards released yet from the fantastic July 1975 tour. Elvis did some great shows during that tour. (Ashville, Greensboro, Norfolk) And what about the outstanding december 1976 tour ? Like to have a soundboard from that tour although I know that Birmingham and Dallas are allready released on bootlegs. How about the Wichita (dec.27) show or the Atlanta (dec. 30) show ? We just have to be patience I think...just wait and see.

Ton, what I mean to say is that ftd/bmg again and again the same material released sample I wrote about Elvis is back. next year they come with Pot luck, Elvis for everyone...al the original lp`s re released over and over again, with or without outtakes or unreleased material. Most Elviefans have that already and Ernst and Ger knows that as no one els [fort baxter/2001/Bilko...]. Everyone knows by JAT books that all concerts are recorded real to real/soundboards there is planty concerts to release and July 20/23 1975 is an option. And soundtracks should be different, they must released with movie versions and more alternated versions. we have the double features already. In the beginning I thought FTD was a special label for ELVIS FANS who wanted more than the regular releases. The Today FTD version I waited about 25 years" The studio mix "wow... but most outtakes we have already on a other ftd6363...why? Most Elvis fans have the OUR MEMORIES OF ELVIS. lp`s/cd`s The undubbed studio versions of 73,75,76..that is what the FTD buyers should get. NOT TICKLE ME...

I've said it before and I'll say it again; FTD is putting out absolute redundant garbage anymore. Every since the merger of Sony and BMG, plus the sellout to the new powers that be at Graceland, it's turned out to be an absolute sellout. FTD was established for the rabid Elvis fan (that would be me), but I'm not spending anymore of my hard earned cash on reissue after reissue. Come up with new, if any, which I doubt; or disband the FTD label, this web site and all the other crap that's been happening lately.

cruiser you should read the rules and backgrounds about ftd`s:quote: To steer fans away from buying illegal (bootleg) product. The volume of unofficial audio product in the marketplace reached a level which BMG and Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. (EPE) could no longer tolerate. BMG Entertainment International, the RCA Records label and EPE vigorously prosecute any company or individual who violates their copyrights, trademarks and other rights. Bootleg products are seized and all conventions, record fairs, mail order operations and other activities are monitored closely. The same people made the bootlegs are the same of the ftd`s but now legaly in co.with epe. everyone is now happy and so they can re-release all the bootlegs over again, and again and again. Thank you for buying fortbaxter, 2001, bilko cd`s

I cant imagine how frustrating Ernst job must be. Can you imagine almost every single project of you, being received by the community with so much complaining and baching? I really cant understand this. Almost all the releases so far offered something different and insightful. Look what we got so far: 3 wonderful BOOK/CD projects. Dozens of unreleased shows, studio material and special insues of classic albuns. What else can we ask for? We must ask yourselfs: Are we unhappy with FTD releases or with Elvis? Because if someone finds the soundboards repetitives, its not FTDs falt. And speaking of soundboards, those who aprreciate this kind of release (and they are many) think they are fantastic. Almost every soundboard release got something Special: Tucson offered us a good show for 76 with a super highlight named Danny Boy. Dinner at 8 offered superior sound, great concert and Wooden Heart. Dixieland Rocks offered one of the best concerts avaliable, content and soundwise. And yet, how much praise you see about those releases?none...zero..nada. I think its time for people to realise how bad the 80´s were and how greatfull we must be to Ernst and Co. Start enjoying what you have, because when its over, its over.
