October FTD CDs Released

October 07, 2004 | Music
The two new Follow that Dream releases "Closing Night" and the "Double Trouble" soundtrack on the 7 inch format are finally out. The cover on "Closing Night" is a little different than the one we have seen on the net so far; a different font and red in stead of blue. The sound quality on "Closing Night" is pretty good according to the update from Elvis Unlimited.

"Closing Night" was recorded live at the Las Vegas Hilton on September 3, 1973. It was during this show that Elvis sang "Bridge Over Troubled Water" to the music of "Suspicious Minds".

"Closing Night" is a classic, with a great emotional version of "My Boy". Also the comments Elvis makes to the Hilton's, about saving a waiter's job at the hotel, who was rumored to be fired, was a great recorded capture. Does anyone have a live version of Elvis singing "You'll Never Walk Alone"? I heard him do it at the Nassau Collisium, in New York,in 1975. He blew the roof off, playing the piano and going solo with the song. It would be a treasure if anyone captured it on tape.

I just heard this one. I have to say, by the rumours and reactions I read on the internet, I was a bit worried that our main man was SO far out that I wouldn't be enjoyed by it (what still hasn't happened yet). Fortunately it is not the case. This is a very unique concert and I love FTD for releasing it in such good sound quality. As usual, I wanted a bit more lyrics on the package of it: a bit explination about in what sircumstances the show was given and if anything unusual happens during the performance. In this case: the quarrel of the hotel, the bed & the sexy movements of Elvis at the beginning of 'What Now My Love' & the hard words that fell after the show between the Colonel and Elvis. There contract was almost completely over after the engagement.
