An envelope of negatives was recently discovered by archivists working at the Graceland archives. This photo, from one of those negatives, features Elvis as he waits to complete his paperwork before boarding a bus with twelve other recruits. Other photos, all taken on the day Elvis was inducted into the army, on March 24, 1958, feature Elvis having breakfast, signing autographs, and more. These photos have probably not been seen since they were given to Vernon Presley, Elvis's father, and he filed them away many years ago. Because of the large number of documents, contracts, letters and other materials, that are in the Graceland collection, there is an ongoing project to scan and artifact everything in the collection.
