Midsouth Coliseum May Close Down

November 24, 2006 | Other
American media have reported the possible ‘shut down’ of the Midsouth Coliseum in Memphis. The building has fallen in the shadow of the Pyramid and, more recently, FedEx Forum. And while the bones look good, the City loses money on this building every year, roughly $300-400,000. Add to this the fact that it's not in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and you realize that city leaders are faced with a unique problem. Elvis gave his last concert at the Coliseum on July 5th 1976.

Well if this don't take the rag off the bush!! It's like every place Elvis ever played, there shutting it down or tearing it down. I live roughly 2Hr's from Indianapolis where Elvis gave his very last performance at Market Square Arena before he died, and they tore it down several years ago and put up a marker in his honor. I understand these places are getting old now, but you'd think somebody could do something.
