Memory Records Back In Business - Updated

March 05, 2011 | Music

Memory Records will soon release two new CDs:

Burst of Fire

Burst Of Fire

As recorded live in Las Vegas, NV, at the Hilton Hotel Showroom, August 25th, 1973 Dinner show.
The first CD is called "BURST OF FIRE" (CD MR 2060-2) and is a solid Las Vegas show with a strong setlist. Among the highlights are "Bridge Over Troubled Water", "Release Me" and "An American Trilogy". Lisa Marie was in the audience and Elvis sings "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" for her.
This recording was taken from a 1st generation copy of the original audience recorded tape. For the majority of collectors this will be a new, previously unknown show, coming from a recently found cassette! The CD booklet will contain a collection of August/September 1973 photos and liner notes.

At Bay

Elvis At Bay

As recorded live in St. Petersburg, FL, at the Bayfront Center, September 3rd, 1976.
The second CD is titled "ELVIS AT BAY" (CD MR 2061-2) and dates from a rather uneven Elvis tour. Nevertheless, the last few shows were of a solid standard, compared with the first ones in Houston, San Antonio & Macon. The Bayfront Center performance is one of finest shows of the tour. Elvis is focused, his voice is strong, he’s giving good versions of songs like "And I Love You So", "America", "Polk Salad Annie" & "Hurt". He is also in an exceptionally good mood, joking with Charlie ("I guess they understand how lonely Charlie's been...") and with the audience ("What do you think? I'm the Pope and I'm gonna bless you? No way.")

This recording was taken directly from the original tape obtained from the person who recorded the show. His own memories of the show are presented inside the booklet. All accompanying photographs were taken in St. Petersburg, September 3, 1976.

01. Also Sprach Zarathustra, 02. C. C. Rider, 03. Medley: I Got A Woman / Amen, 04. Love Me, 05. If You Love Me (Let Me Know), 06. You Gave Me A Mountain, 07. And I Love You So, 08. I would like to order Burp of Fire. The sound is so good, it's like Elvis is singing in your bathroom (under water)..

I'm not 100% sure, but I'm fairly certain I have all of the songs mentioned here in much better quality versions than what will be on these CDs (at least 40 times!). Please tell me why I should buy these?
Ciscoking wrote on February 25, 2011
Tell me why you should buy any show then..or do you believe in all 1126 shows our man gave he sang different songs..?

Hey guys, if you're not interested in a totally new recording of Elvis, then I can't see why you are wasting your time at an Elvis Presley forum…do something else with your time, something that won't stir up that amount of negativity in your life...

The "Burp of Fire" remark was totally hilarious. First time ever I laughed out loud when reading Elvis News. On a serious note, I don't understand all the negativity either. We all know what to expect from Elvis recordings by now. Blurt out a year between 69 and 77, and I can give you a fairly accurate rundown of the potential song list. I don't know of a single performer that reinvents a live show night after night. People pay to hear the hits, revamping song list takes more rehearsals, and so forth. Elvis did vary his shows from time to time, or at least as the years went by. Each era of the concert years is somewhat unique. And ultimately, what's out there is what's out there. There isn't anything "new" left. All that remains are those few recordings we haven't yet heard. I enjoy the ability to buy Elvis music, and I'll keep doing so until the well runs completely dry.

You're right Ciscoking about it..."Tell me why you should buy any show then..or do you believe in all 1126 shows our man gave he sang different songs..?"...

Well I just purchased both of these 2 new Memory releases, and should have them by tomorrow. :) I seem to see on here that people easily complain about this and that, and if you really don't like what they are shedding out of the vaults then you really can't call yourself an Elvis fan.
