Made In Memphis And Something For Everbody Out

March 31, 2006 | Music
The two new Follow That Dream releases "Made In Memphis" and "Something For Everybody" are out. Made in Memphis is a single-disc regular Follow That Dream release featuring outtakes from Elvis' sessions in Memphis in 1969 (American Sound Studio), 1973 (Stax Recording Studio) and 1976 (the den at Graceland). There is an additional 5-song set of home recordings made at Sam Thompson's place in November 1973. (Sam was a member of Elvis' entourage and the brother of Linda Thompson, Elvis's steady girlfriend from 1972 to 1976.)

Something For Everybody is double disc 7" deluxe release. It contains the original album plus a ton of nice outtakes from the sessions for the album.

Something For Everybody is an excellent album. can't wait to lay my hands on this gem. The songs I Want You With Me, Put The Blame On Me, I'm Coming Home, Give Me The Right are superb. Infact every song on this classic album is superb. Elvis sings like a bird on Sentimental Me, Judy etc Can't wait to hear all the First Takes and the Alternate Takes. Thanks Ernst Jorgensen and FTD. More please...

Yes - Have to agree with CD King - Something for Everybody contains many great recordings - Elvis' voice was tremendous during this period - great vocal control and ranges. This could have been a triple CD set for me. The Memphis album seems a bit of a mish-mash covering such a wide time span. A double CD would have been better.

Well, if the CDs are really "out", why ShopElvis (from EPE) doesnt have them available yet??? I just checked it now, Saturday, 9:50am Memphis time....

Jacquie: ShopElvis is almost always the LAST one to have the new FTDs in stock when they're released.

SFE is absolutly great, the sound is stunning. Made In Memphis is suprising good. But i would rather had is a series, Made In Memphis volume 1- American Studio, and, Made In Memphis volume 2- Stax july 73 ,and- Made In Memphis volume 3- Stax decemder 73, and, Made In Memphis volume 4 - Jungle Room 76. by the way lucky for Neill Sedaka that he never met Elvis after the recording of Solitaire.

I haven't received my copies yet, but I'm looking forward to them both. "Something For Everybody" has been a favorite since I first discovered the album as a kid back in 1965 (thanks to the tunes recycled for the "Tickle Me" soundtrack), and all of Elvis' Memphis sessions hold out genuine interest (for musical and/or historical/biographical reasons). But I must admit that I don't get the gist of Ronald's Neil Sedaka comment. Is there something offensive to the songwriter on the M in M "Solitaire" outtake? Elaborate and illuminate, please. Thanks!

Just before Elvis starts to sing "Solitaire" he says: "I'll kill Neil Sedaka when I see him".
