Love Me Tender
Love Me Tender will be released on Blu Ray in Germany on August 2, 2013.
I have nothing but good news to report. Watched my copy last night. the picture quality is top notch and so is the DTS soundtrack. Pretty good first movie for Elvis. Get this one folks.
early reviews for both picture quality and the DTS sound are great. Looks like we have a winner here. My copy will arrive next week.
Blu ray really has a better effect on a Tv thats bigger than say 44" I find. I have a 54" and Dvd just loses detail sadly on that but when watching the same film on Blu-ray ... kaboom! Films like Spartacus are just amazing, the detail! Old movies are just amazing in this format. Like I said if you have a screen thats 44" or smaller then DVD is perfect.
Hells Bells, I have only recently completed the conversions to DVD and even then a couple are in the post. Whilst I enjoyed Jailhouse, King Creole, Loving You etc, I really just wanted the video clips of Elvis singing the songs. And, like Gorse, I discovered the wonderful STAR DVDs where they did all the editing for me, plus threw in some extras by overdubbing some alternate takes as well...brilliant. As for Blu Ray, not for me thanks, not at this particular time, maybe when they are all on BluRay, but I hope STAR will re-edit the Blu Ray discs and extract the clips for me! Currently awaiting Hollywood Elvis 4 remake. I have no financial connection to STAR, and other DVD editors may be avalable.
I support even the smallest improvements on anything Elvis related, because even though I wouldn't buy it, then I think that new fans or collectors deserves to see and hear Elvis in the best quality possible.
dgirl, I have never agreed with you more concerning the improvement from VHS to DVD. Remember how the VHS tapes either cut the sides of the movie off to fit it to your TV or did that horrible movement back and forth to show you who was talking. I remember a scene from the VHS version of "Live A Little, Love A Little" where the camera pans back and forth from Dick Sargent and Elvis while they are doing the dishes and it almost makes you dizzy. I am fine with the video on most of the DVD's ("Clambake" is an exception to that rule) and don't see a major need to put Elvis' movies on Blue-ray, but I do have to say the sound on some of the DVD's could be improved. Especially when Elvis is singing. I was watching "Double Trouble" the other day and the sound on a couple of the songs was inconsistent and seemed to get louder and then lower on the same song. I was using a good DVD player and my stereo receiver for sound. I do wish they would put "Loving You" on region one DVD here in the USA (I have some people order it from a major online service where it says region one only to get a region 2 version, so I am scared to order it).
If you'll see the great uk version of the loving DVD. It is great. a good example for how to make a blu-ray. Tha paramounts has not that quality. But strange enough the first rele3ased four - like Blue hawaii- it has at some spots in the movie that are is stereo. especially on the start of a new chapter. Then a few seconds later it is mono again.
yes I will leave comments after I have it. I'll be back in about 3 weeks with more.
If they released them all again on Blu-ray I certainly would not buy them all again as I did when they went from VHS to DVD, which was maybe the biggest improvement of any product I have ever seen. But I would consider King Creole and TTWII.
Well Iray, I was only making a wild guess and I too hope I am wrong. Perhaps if you intend to buy it on Blu-ray you will let us know about the picture and audio quality, although as I said in my previous post it is not one I am too eager to have in my collection since I already own it twice on DVD. Do keep us informed. Thanks.
I hope EJF is wrong about this being, 'hotch-potch.' Amazon has this listed as DTS so it should have very good sound. Fox has been doing a great job on the Monroe movies from the same time period. Watched my Blu-ray of 7 Year Itch and it had the DTS sound track. Sounded great. We will find out in a few weeks.
I can't wait to see Elvis on blu-ray here in the Uk. Eagerly anticipating this and King Kreole, Flaming Star, Wild in the Country, TTWII and Loving You in widescreen !
I am a dyed in the wool Elvis fan of over 50 years but these days apart from a small handful of films just enjoy what Star have done to the song sequences in their Hollywood Series. I am a fan because he was a singer first and foremost to me, not an actor and Star bring the highlights of films in one concise package. (No I don't have connection with Star).
I've got all the Elvis movies on DVD. That's good enough for me. Yes, I have a BD player.
I own quite a large collection of Blu-rays, including the three Elvis releases so far, Jailhouse Rock, Viva Las Vegas and On Tour. The picture quality, and to a certain extent the audio, are miles superior to normal DVD. But this is achieved only if the restoration is done properly and not some hotch-potch transfer from DVD, as I suspect this is. There are only a handful of Elvis films I would consider purchasing again on Blu-ray. Unfortunately this is not one of them.
