Here is a press release from EPE and Lofeblood: All shook up™ about Date Night with The King!

Put on your blue suede shoes and head on down for a night of movies, food and fun with a date as Lifeblood and Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. host “Date Night with the King” on Friday, April 27. The event, featuring the official unveiling of the 2007 Lifeblood/Elvis images series, will be held at the Rose Theatre at the University of Memphis and begins at 5:30 p.m. Those who attend will enjoy hot hors d’oeuvres and will receive exclusive items featuring this year’s Elvis images. Attendees will also enjoy a screening of the Elvis classic, Jailhouse Rock ™.

For the past four years, Elvis Presley Enterprises has partnered with Lifeblood by providing art to be used on thank-you items given to blood donors. This year’s images are taken from four of Elvis’ movies, Jailhouse Rock ™, King Creole ™, That’s the Way It Is ™ and Change of Habit ™. The original images are donated to Lifeblood by Elvis Presley Enterprises. Lifeblood then works with local graphic designer, Nikki Schroeder of Graffiti Graphics, Inc. who customizes the images to make them unique to Lifeblood.

Graffiti Graphics has been creating art since 1987, and is celebrating its twentieth anniversary this year. Artist and graphic designer, Nikki Schroeder was voted one of the “50 Women who Make a Difference” by Memphis Women’s Magazine in 2005. Nikki is also co-owner -- but more importantly -- the creator of Jabberblabber Magazine which was launched in 2001 with 30,000 copies distributed monthly throughout the Mid-South. Nikki’s latest business venture is a green community in Galloway, TN that will break ground in September 2007.

Lifeblood is our community’s only full-service blood center and is the area’s leading provider of blood and blood components to area hospitals. Local hospitals require more than 100,000 units of blood every year. Lifeblood’s volunteer donors provide about half this amount, and the remainder must be purchased from other volunteer blood centers throughout the country. Only dedicated donors can help close the gap between the amount of blood needed for our community and the amount collected.

Donating blood is simple, takes less than an hour and one blood donation saves up to four lives. Those who are 17 years old, weigh at least 110 lbs., and are in generally good health may donate blood. To find out more about donating blood and saving lives, visit www.lifeblood.org or call 1.888.lifeblood.

The more you read their latest announcements the further away you get from how it felt to be an Elvis fan growing up. We would have winced at this kind of stuff even 10 years ago!
