Kathy Westmoreland Will Not Take Part In 25th Anniversary Co

February 15, 2002 | People
Kathy Westmoreland, the soprano vocalist who worked with Elvis on stage from 1970 to 1977 and appeared in his concert films and TV specials in those years and remains a special favorite among so many Elvis fans, has declined the invitation to participate in the August 16, 2002 presentation of Elvis: The 25th Anniversary Concert, citing another engagement she has during that time. That decision
appears to be final.

There seem to be no hard feelings between Kathy Westmoreland and EPE. She's aware that some fans will unfairly blame EPE for "not inviting" Miss Westmoreland therefore there's a statement from her added to her declining the invitation.

Dear Stig:

We want to thank you, Todd, and Jack for extending the invitation to Kathy Westmoreland to take part in Elvis: The 25th Anniversary Concert. It sounds like it's going to be a great show.

Unfortunately, Miss Westmoreland has accepted another engagement at that time and regrets that she will be unable to participate.

I want to express how much I have enjoyed working with you up to this point and want to thank you for the courtesy and cooperation you have shown to both of us.

Best regards,
Diana Magrann
Manager of Kathy Westmoreland

P.S. We're aware that some fans will unfairly blame EPE for "not inviting" Miss Westmoreland, and you have our permission to release this statement at your discretion to show that she was, indeed, invited.
