Jake Hess Passed Away

We received notice that Jake Hess (76) has pased away after a long battle with illness. Jake, a four-time Grammy winner, was one of Elvis favorite gospel singers, leader of the Statesmen Quartet and with the Imperials backed Elvis on his Grammy-winning gospel album "How Great Thou Art". Jake Hess performed "Known Only To Him" on Elvis' funeral.

So sorry to hear of Mr. Hess' death. My thought and prayers are with all of the family and friends dear to him. Tell Elvis hello and we love him. I am sure you will see him and sing Gospel with him again. God Bless and thanks for TCB. Rest in Peace Precious one.

I am so sorry to hear that Jake has passed away. he will be missed greatly from me as well as all the fans around the world. He will be greatly missed . R.I.P. JAKE We all miss you. Our thoughts are with his family at this time of grief. We have lost a great friend of Elvis , who backed Elvis in the 1970s , at concerts .

This is such sad news. I always new Jake was a favorite of Elvis, and in recent years got to enjoy him through his involvement with the Bill Gaither Homecoming specials... Now he is with his wife, the Lord and Elvis..
