More and more import releases are re-released. Now out-of-print official releases are bootlegged too. According to an update on the Elvis Matters website a Polish reprint of the original and well known album from 1970, “Let’s Be Friends” (as originally released on the budget Camden label) has been released in the import circuit.

Track listing:
Stay Away Joe / If I’m A Fool / Let’s Be Friends / Let’s Forget About The Stars / Mama / I’ll Be There / Almost / Change Of Habit / Have A Happy

The Elvis Express mentions a possible new import release by a new import label with a newly remastered version of Elvis' concert performance from March 22nd 1975 midnight show at the Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas. This concert was first issued on the import release, "A Profile: The King On Stage Vol. 2" but the producers of this upcoming release say that the remastering they have done has given a new and improved sound.

Track listing:

Well,my guess is that a certain well known dealer will get the bulk of these in the US and charge about 100 bucks a piece for them. There are some dealers I literally detest.

If the CD from the Elvis Express is an improved sound I´ll surely buy it cause I like the concert from March 22nd of 1975, especially And I Love You So. Give it to us straight, we need it bad ! TCB.

For those that like to collect albums on CD that were originally issued during Elvis’ lifetime “Let’s Be Friends” could be a good release. However, it will be interesting to see where the tracks have been sourced from, and whether they are the same mixes that appeared on the vinyl album back in 1970. I also think that to give value for money bonus tracks should have been included on this release. Out takes of some of these songs have been issued in the past, and these could have been added to extend the playing time.

I too have a copy of the "Let's Be Friends" CD and can confirm that the sound quality is great. The tracks have been sourced from modern CD's rather than the original album, which does cause a couple of discrepancies. All of the tracks are in stereo, whereas two on the original album were mono. Also, on the original album, "Mama" was the extended version but here we has the very short "Double Features" version. I suppose it would have been difficult to completely replicate the original release without relying on lesser-quality audio sources. I have a copy of the original album on pre-recorded cassette as well as vinyl, and a quick listen revealed the cassette to be very hissy. The sound of the vinyl LP left a lot to be desired as well. The packaging is fantastic, I do not think it could have been bettered if released officially. I hope this is the start of a series of these budget albums on CD. I hold very fond memories of these albums. I became an Elvis fan in 1969 at a very young age, so these albums were the only ones within my grasp. My collection started with "C'mon Everybody", "I Got Lucky", "Almost In Love", etc, while I had to wait until the mid seventies to hear such greats as "Elvis In Memphis", "Elvis Country", "Elvis Is Back", etc.
